But seriously, do not try to gift Steam exclusive games from Canada, only if you lock it down to the cheaper regions. Or put it in public level 0. The chances to get a winner for a giveaway like that from a region more expansive than Canada is roughly 0.1%

I understand, but you can still region-restrict it, just put those Steam-exclusive ones at the end of a train, if you do one.
Also, if you decide to gift through Steam, always expect to pay the standard full price, since winners can fail to accept a Steam gift, in which case valve just refunds it, so it is easy to fall out of a sale period, even if it is a season sale.

I don't mind paying the full price, the game just caught my eye because it was in the new and trending section on the steam homepage. I wish there was an option to just pay the gift reciever's price on steam!

I have purchased stuff on Amazon.de for family living in Germany in the past, to not have to deal with shipping stuff on my own from Canada. I was thinking along those lines, just instead for digital media.
If there are laws like that, whoops hahaha!
Yeah I imagine global uniform pricing isn't an option for a platform as big as steam.

I'm in a bit of a bind. I just finished a giveaway for a newly released indie title, and I planned on gifting it to the winner via steam. However "due to regional price differences, the gift you are trying to send cannot be sent to the recipient's region". I tried looking up a key on third party stores, but apparently its only currently sold at one store - Steam.
Not sure what I can do here...
