((Humble Region locking)) what keys do they give out to whom and why.

Opend this thread to get info on Humbles region locks.
for example germans that buy USK cut games at humble will get germany restricted keys.
the same goes for australian cut games they will get australia only keys.
deep silver has its own region locking NA=row, EU, RU-CIS, BR

humble is basically avoiding my question.

Every country has its own approach to games and some games might not be available in certain regions. If the game is restricted due to specific region restrictions in your country, we are unable to provide you with those keys. We have to follow the distribution rules. The availability of those games should be clearly stated on the purchasing page. I do apologize if that wasn't the case!

thx but it doesn't specify how they are region locked.
as i understand it Deep Silver has its own EU region.
but saints row 2 is USK cut and could be a german region lock version.

I want to know if Australians can activate NA or EU keys for Saints Row IV. We have the low violence version in the Steam store.

EDIT: I can confirm that Saints Row IV Keys purchased in NA will activate in Australia as NA + ROW ESD.

No, the keys are region locked and won't activate outside of said region. You'll have to get a ROW gift.from someone - assuming they can still be added to your account.

Sounds rather specific, have you tried/given Deep-Silver HB EU Region acquired
Games to someone who tried activating them in the US? (If yes which game exactly?)

Sounds rather specific? That's the entire point of region locks/restrictions. Deep Silver's region locking has been common knowledge for years and they are one of the worst publishers for it.

I've tried redeeming keys before and the rest of the community will tell you the same.

As far as Deep Silver goes, New Zealand and Aus redeem US keys, going off the long ago key dump for Dead Island on Raptr.

Not correct in Deep Silver Bundle 2 ... there is a lack of certain keys for Germans :-( they even don't get it when they purchase with VPN!

hab keine ahnung ob private browsing nicht doch cookies checked die du gespeichert hast.
mach einfach humble zu lösche alle humble cookies verbinde dich mit dem vpn und probier es nochmal.

Na nun ist zu spät, ich habe schon einmal refund heute gemacht, als ich es mit Paypal versucht habe ;) Was solls. Sacred 3 und die DLC von Risen 2 für 2,82 Euro ist so schlecht nun auch wieder nicht ...

ok so i received 2 copies of dead island
i activated one and it said dead island RU
but im from lithuania (its a country near russia) but i normally cant activate RU/CIS games
and i received 2nd copy of it so idk it could be glitched

Same. Received two copies of Dead Island. Didn't use any as I already own the game, but its hard to tell if both copies are restricted to RU+CIS or one copy restricted to EU.

since another person said he activated with EU tag, probably like you say, so i probably have the EU left which means everyone can activate it :D

Deep Silver's EU tag is not ROW and can only be redeemed in EU but Deep Silver's EU also doesn't match any off the steam regions.

I activated my Dead Island game and it had EU tag. I'm also from Lithuania and I received 2 copies of it. Strange.

This is so confusing...

Example:

I have a Risen key (I'm from Finland so regular EU region). So the key I have is for that region?
Which means only people from same region can redeem it?
But as there is no region to select on the create gift page I can't create a GA for it? Or can I?

your deep silver keys are eu only keys.

you could enter or create a europe only group and do a group ga.
or right eu only in the description and ask for a reroll if someone from outside the region wins it.

But the guidelines forbid creating a GA for a region which isn't an option?

"Region restricted gifts and keys are allowed for a select number of regions. If you have a gift or key for another region, it should not be posted at this time."

If this is to be taken literally it's baffling that the major regions of NA and EU are not available options.

Yes, but the question is, are all/some those GAs actually not ok according to guidelines.

That is, if the keys are locked to the region of the buyer.

Guess I'll just go with the flow and create GAs anyway.

Thing is most EU Steam Keys are Region Free, except for a few, i don't even know of, but apparently "some" of the Deep-Silver games are - which ones, no idea, nor could i confirm ... Certainly haven't seen any Region Locked Gifts of Derp Silver ... as EU is ROW.

That is why there is no "EU Region" in the sg-giveaway creation.

but deep silver seems to be the exception.
with EU, NA=ROW, RUCIS, BR regions and there are the australian and german cut versions of games region locks that apply to all publishers.

Deep Silver loves their region locks. To get a better understanding of what type of lock you keys have, you should look up the game on steamdb.info a see which package applies to you. Generally NA has its own separate lock from EU with Australia being bundled with NA peeps.
