$1000 how? Base game price? Because a dozen or so bundles from IndieGala can do that for like a hundred real bucks or less. Heck, my alt account shows way over $2500 even though I spent about 50 dollars on it.
Or SteamDB low price calculator? That is the most frequently used for real library calculations since there are preciously few people stupid enough to buy their games at full price.

By the way: Am I the only one who finds it ironic that you don't even meet your own criteria? :)

Okay, now in that case I think I should be more worried about the astonishing amount of people around us jumping to sign up. And some of them seem to be seasoned Steam users, to boot.

I thought the same thing after all the red flags popped up.

"Oh hey, another group! I have no idea why I want to join, but invite me!" shake head

Up to 18 pages of people requesting to get in.

I'm ... I ... I just don't know what to make of it.

That the SG forum community isn't exactly what you would have thought and is actually a lot more similar to any other internet grouping of people than we believed/wanted it to be? :)
One thing I learnt before posting my first reply ever was that despite the niceness, this community is especially prone to elitism, which also shows that many people jump at the first occasion to get into an invite-only "exclusive" group.
The good part is that at least it is not worse than any other internet forum that can offer such things. :) The bad part is that it may shatter a few idealistic assumptions. :(

At this stage of my life, I've pretty much lost all hope for humanity.

Besides, watching someone slip and fall on the ice is much more entertaining than warning them about the ice, especially when they're not going to heed your warning anyway. I figure it's just Darwinism at work.

As someone already mentioned aswell the first thing he did when he got decent amount of members was putting reflinks on frontpage. :]
Kinda sad how i've seen this thread in the top whole morning, don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to see were the guy is going with his "group"..

Yeah, skimmed through the thread, although with the amount of people blindly jumping on ship it was a bit difficult.
And scary.

Well, it's like you say.. People just blindly wants aboard the train asap, i even asked in the start of the thread before those reflinks were there what the purpose of the group were, if it was a GA group or just to more or less try to shine abit with the acc. ;)
No answer thought, suprised.. Not very much =/
