Hi there. I bought DoD because for the christmas coal thingy that Steam did 2 years ago. First time I played it I was like: "thanks gaben, you've made me buy this graphically unimpressive piece of software." But then I met a diggle. I was fascinated by diggles and decided to stay in the dungeon for some more time. One day I was bitten by a rather rabid diggle and turned into a werediggle.
What I'm trying to convey here is, DoD is a great game with sick sense of humor with the right amount of randomness so that you won't feel cheated by the game every time you stepped on trap. By the way the dungeon is animal friendly and I suggest you to visit our zoo whenever you have the time.

They can be quite different though. Compare Arx Fatalis to Dungeons of Dredmor, those games have very little in common (apart from being very good, obviously).
And if you are interested in dungeon crawlers & rogue likes, those two are the starting point that I would recommend. Sword of the Stars: the Pit is also quite nice, although I preferred Dungeons of Dredmor. Also, Wizardry 6 is a pretty good title, and an absolutely massive one. Legend of Grimrock is quite outstanding as well.

Not the great one but take a look to Paranautical Activity

In current condition, it's not bad nor good in my humble opinion. Therefore i said it's not great. I'd recommend to try it before buy.

Why not Legend of Dungeon . . . ? I bought that too. Haven't got a chance to play it yet though. However, in my opinion, it looked a lot better than Dungeon of the Endless and that's only because turn based tower defense games are not really my thing.

Legend of Dungeon is fun but a bit different than people might expect from hearing it described. Its mechanics are so simple that it's really more of an action game with some weird / funny powerups than an RPG (it's not even a Metroidvania like Rogue Legacy is.)
If you want something with a bit more depth, you should go for Rogue Legacy or Splunkey. Legend of Dungeon is fun if you just want mindless monster-smacking (with multiplayer as an option.)

Simple and there is no save option. It makes that game boring.

Not steam, but Dwarf Fortress has to be mentioned where roguelikes are mentionned.

I guess I'd count Dark Souls since you do go through some dungeons and it's super hard but super fun. Torchlight 2 is great and there are so many mods. Van Helsing looks pretty tight and I heard it isn't bad either. I heard mixed reviews about Krater though

Well its not roguelike but if you are looking for the absolute best dungeon exploration there is I suggest La Mulana.

^Delver, similar to Eldritch. Also my favourite roguelike dungeoncrawler is on greenlight, not yet greenlit though: Claustrophobia: The Downward Struggle.

Dungeons of Dredmor is AMAZING. So many different skills you can choose from, I love this game, for $5.00 it is a steal.
Binding of Issac is also amazing. Also insanely cheap, this game will drive you crazy!
I just got into Sword of The Stars The Pit (plus both DLCS cheap from gamersgate atm) I love it!
I LOVE ROGUELIKES AND DUNGEON CRAWLERS
My partner has played Spelunky and Rogue Legacy (both a little fast paced for me I prefer turn based) and he has gotten lots of enjoyment from them.
I also like Desktop Dungeons which has a strong strategy element because you really need to think ahead, I think that game is on Greenlight atm.
I love old ones like ADOM, I'm glad people are still making Roguelike games, I really just enjoy the randomness and challenge of them.

Yes, I would like to know what a "roughlike" game is. Is it just a game in a rough, unfinished state? They dont let too many of those on steam, although with early access and greenlight now...
Ok, just kidding. Some recommendations for real: people will quibble about it being a rogue-lite, but Spelunky is seriously addicting and fantastic, and you already own it so you should play it. You will die quite a lot though, fair warning. Dungeons of Dredmor (which everyone spells wrong with an extra 'e' for some reason) is a great introduction to traditional roguelikes, which usually aren't about the graphics but more centered on the gameplay. Don't Starve is like a cousin of rogue-lites, in that it has randomized-ish levels and permadeath. I'd recommend it. Unepic is an ok dungeon game, but the writing/voice acting are pretty bad to mediocre. Teleglitch is a decent action roguelite, kinda space horror a-la Doom vibe going for it. And you don't have Faster Than Light. You should get FTL. Like, asap, next time it hits 75% (hopefully this sale). Seriously, I can't believe there aren't any other FTL recommendations in this thread.

Yeah so, I'm just assuming these two genres are similar enough to group together BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT! Tell me the Dungeon Crawlers and Roughlike games on Steam that you like the best. c:
