Most fake ones I have seen had something written in the description actually.
If anything this is just another loop real people would have to jump through.

I think at least clarity on gift versus key would be helpful, especially as so many people have their inventories on private.
For example, I've entered a giveaway for Company of Heroes Pack. If it's a gift, great. If it's a key, I would assume it's really the THQ bundle. And then I don't need to waste 50 points.
Anyway, it may not be an idea the mods are willing to implement, but it's not a bad topic for discussion.

In some cases it might serve as a deterrent. Btw, love the holiday-themed version of your avatar.

The idea for the mandatory options you listed is what I disagree with most. If someone wants to win a game I am giving away it shouldn't matter what format it is in, or how I acquired (except in cases of exploited keys) or even if I have to say something at all. Every giveaway here is optional, and we shouldn't force generous donors to do more than they want to on their giveaways. If people don't want to be disappointed by entering a fake giveaway then please don't enter.
Edit*
If fake giveaways are a big issue with you my suggestion would be check out the givers profile and see their history. It will let you make an educated guess.

IMO a mandatory description is a bad idea.
But options like "type"(gift/key) or "source"(list of popular sites + "other") would be nice. It won't change anything about fake giveaways, though.

^ This. I agree it would be helpful but not necessarily prevent fake giveaways. I have times when I don't have access to Steam, so during those times I only try to enter giveaways that give gifts (not keys, because you can't activate a key without Steam =_=)

Honestly, fake giveaways don't bother me that much. If it's deleted then I get my points back. If it isn't deleted then I probably didn't win anyway. If I do win, and it is fake, then I haven't truly lost anything. So why get upset?
Ergo, making everybody jump through hoops (even if they do seem like trifles) just to attempt to stop a few people from doing something that doesn't really hurt anyone (and won't stop the determined anyway) doesn't seem like a great idea to me. It's like bad DRM.

Speaking of fake giveaways, I'm still confused about what people get out of making them. If they're caught, the listing will get deleted and they'll get suspended and if they aren't caught, the person who won will report that they didn't receive anything and the person who created the giveaway won't get points.

So, I was wondering about fake giveaways, and I thought some sort of mandatory description below the giveaways would be nice.
If everybody is forced to write something into that box, maybe we will encounter less fake givaways. Sure, if you check somebody's profile, and you see 0-0-0 and a 3copy Skyrim giveaway, you think it's fake, but what if it's not? What if the creater was too lazy to explain the situation.
I was thinking about other mandatory options, too, like checking "Is it a gift or a key?", or "How did you acquire your copy?"
What do you think?
