Wishlisted! I played Maniac Mansion so much back in the day, it was so creepy. High creep factor.

Maniac Mansion and Zach McCraken are the only Lucasfilm Point & Click that I've never played. Their interface seemed so clunky. Maybe because I discovered them after other titles, I think Indy was my first, and SCUMM was more polished.

Maniac Mansion had multiple solutions and i think even dead ends, but it was also made to run on a c64 and nes.
And it's Zak McKracken*.

I think I read somewhere a few dozen decades ago that every combination of characters was able to get to the end, but some actions with the wrong character might bring you to a dead end. Fuzzy memories.

Some fans have made a remake with DOTT Remake style graphics. It's free, sporting a different name. Might be worth a look.
