Christmas was just Thanksgiving 2.0 last year, so I don't know that you can just single out Summer and Christmas as Steam's two big sales anymore.
And it is uncertain how Steam will respond to the growing sales of places like Amazon and others. Steam arguably didn't even try to compete with Amazon last Christmas, and Amazon has over the last half-year been putting up occasional sales and bundles that can make a holiday Steam sale look positively expensive in comparison.

^ look quick for trade copies, especially keys. Since GamersGate royally cocked up and sold BL 2 4-pack really cheaply there is a several keys for BL2 going cheap.

Buy it new (boxed) on eBay. I've seen most copies go for $20-30. The key activates on Steam. Although, I would say it is quite likely to go on sale again before summer. There's more DLC to be released so some place is likely to put it on sale. Since it activates on steam, doesn't matter where you buy it so long as it is legit.

They'll have publisher sales in between, sometime a series sale for the weekend, but it's just up to the publishers. The summer and winter sales are the only Steam-wide sales. Everything else in the meantime is up to the dev/pub. So while likely, you never know who or what will go on sale.

Steam sales are getting lamer every year, they don't even give free games anymore when you get achivements. Amazon weekly sales are much better since its usually 75-90 percent off. So i would not wait for steam sales, id wait for amazon or AAA humble indie bundle sales. Also summer sale is the next steam sale.

I don't know why people have been saying the sales suck... The sales have been awesome even this past one.
The only problem I have is the voting, people vote on popular games that will certainly go up for sale more so then unpopular/indie games.
Yeah I'll admit Amazon was awesome during the Holidays this year but they're still behind Steam in terms of sales.
And those free achievement games... 95% of those were cheap things like The Ship. Only a handful of people actually got anything worthwhile and because of that people complained. (Probably why they stopped doing it, can't ever make people happy.)

Err, overall I think they did a pretty good job of matching titles that were at least in the same class. They never threw indie games against AAA games that I noticed. I don't think I saw anything receive less than 20% of the votes either, but I didn't check every single result.

I agree that they didn't suck (the sale %s and what not have been similar every sale I've ever participated in, it's just that a few other websites like Amazon have gotten more competitive that by comparison the sales seem worse than before.
I never really considered the free games to be part of the "sale." A sale is a sale is a sale is a sale (etc). I'd consider it an event that contains game/coupon giveaways and a sale. Anyways no more free games so that means the sale is lame? Feel more entitled, sheesh.

After 12:01, there is always a steam DAILY sale XD

Why did borderlands 2 get an 89 metacritic score while borderlands got 81 metacritic score? Was borderlands underrated or borderlands 2 overrated?

I was thinking borderlands 2 got more publicity this time around which lead to higher scores. Still don't know which one to buy

Do any of you know when the next steam sale is going to be?
I want to get Borderlands 2 really badly so I can play co-op with my friends, but $60 is way to much.
and I know that some places offer it for $16, but I don't want to have to use a Russian VPN to get past the region lock for purchasing.
