8:11 PM - joejoebuckbuck: Hello.
8:12 PM - Nameless: hey
8:12 PM - Nameless: u sell Dont starve?
8:12 PM - joejoebuckbuck: Yep, I have a copy to trade.
8:12 PM - Nameless: do u also have reign of giants?
8:13 PM - Nameless: ?
8:12 PM - joejoebuckbuck: Nope, I've got a gift copy of the base game.
8:13 PM - Nameless: ok
8:13 PM - Nameless: I have a question
8:13 PM - joejoebuckbuck: Alright.
8:14 PM - Nameless: do u know what humble bundle is?
8:14 PM - Nameless: ?
8:14 PM - joejoebuckbuck: Yep, I love HB. The new Indie bundle is out now.
8:14 PM - Nameless: yup
8:15 PM - Nameless: well u know that any steam purchase of Don't Starve comes with a humble bundle DRM free version?
8:15 PM - Nameless: its explained here
8:15 PM - Nameless: http://support.kleientertainment.com/customer/portal/articles/1126155-how-keys-work-steam-purchase-don-t-starve-reign-of-giants-
8:15 PM - Nameless: I was wondering if i could buy the DRM Free version from u
8:15 PM - joejoebuckbuck: Yeah, I actually used mine already. I like having all my games DRM free so I can play them anywhere.
8:16 PM - Nameless: yeah me to
8:16 PM - Nameless: did u use ur one for that copy that u are trying to sell though?
8:17 PM - Nameless: or for your own copy of don't starve?
8:17 PM - joejoebuckbuck: No, I used the DRM free key for my own copy. The gift I have would also come with one.
8:17 PM - Nameless: yes, could i buy the DRM Free Copy from that gift?
8:18 PM - Nameless: like not the steam part of it but just the DRM free?
8:18 PM - joejoebuckbuck: You have to redeem the gift in order to access the DRM free copy, so it wouldn't be possible to separate them like that.
8:19 PM - Nameless: do u know the key that the don't starve came with?
8:19 PM - Nameless: cuz then i dont have to redeem it
8:19 PM - joejoebuckbuck: It doesn't show you the DRM free key until you redeem the gift.
8:20 PM - Nameless: unless u already know the key from the gift?
8:21 PM - joejoebuckbuck: I don't know what the key is from the gift.
8:21 PM - Nameless: oh, you bought it from the steam store?
8:21 PM - joejoebuckbuck: Yes, it's a gift copy.
8:22 PM - Nameless: oh ok
8:22 PM - Nameless: mayB i could keep you added and you sell the gift to someone and tell them to tell u the key it came with and then sell me the DRM Free?
8:23 PM - joejoebuckbuck: Nah, sorry man. Once I trade the gift the DRM free copy is their's, it wouldn't be fair to them otherwise.
8:24 PM - Nameless: mayB u could warn them beforehand?
8:24 PM - joejoebuckbuck: I'll keep it in mind, what would you have to offer for it?
8:25 PM - Nameless: I have a humble reciever key
8:25 PM - Nameless: and ref
8:25 PM - joejoebuckbuck: Wolfire just gave that out for free yesterday.
8:26 PM - Nameless: not the ref
8:26 PM - Nameless: DRM free is worth less than a single refined metal
8:28 PM - joejoebuckbuck: A. Don't Starve has never been bundled. B. A refined is worth about 25 cents. C. The DRM free copies aren't meant to be separated from the Steam copies, that's basically stealing. I just wanted to see if you were actually going to offer a free game like I thought you would.
8:28 PM - Nameless is now Offline.

Wow, normally i meet with lowballers or "realistic" scammers but this one is a whole new specimen. "DRM free is worth less than a single refined metal" that's what makes me mad. They actually think they can make you believe that something is worthy/worthless. Good luck on your journey friend :D

Yeah, I trade a decent amount so I get offers like this about once a week. I was pretty sure right off the bat that he was a lowballer, so I strung him along to see if he would offer a free key for it. It doesn't bother me though, it normally only takes about 10 minutes to deal with and occasionally you get something entertaining. Good luck as well man.

It's just like the "Ethiopian millionaire email scam".
It's stupid. Why it's still going around? There will be always SOMEONE who won't know better, won't see all the red flags around and will believe it. Specially electronics automated scams, where millions of tries are made, and just one duck pays for the whole scam.
So, when people lie. Even if it's big fat lie... there will always be people who'll believe. Specially if the liar lies with conviction.
I normally have a hard time with vendors at stores when I have a question. I have a big problem with people telling me obvious lies at my face. I feel like, not only they want to scam me but to call me stupid. (Yeah, I take it personally.) I'm like "You wanna lie to me? Ok, but at least make it a good lie! Otherwise is even more disrespectful, as you mean I'm dumb to you!"

To a lot of people, if it's not on Steam, it's not worth anything.

Thanks to this thread I learned that I could register my don't Starve CD-key on my humble account. :P

I had already used it to unlock the Chrome version, so it means that I now have 3 different ways of accessing my game.

The Don't Starve devs are really nice. I couldn't really get into the game unfortunately, but I'm still glad that I bought it to throw a $5 their way.

Spectacular. You know, GOG is a worthless site. That's why all games are free there.

DRM-Free/Removed games --> The Piratebay.

Trying to finagle someone to let you d/l a DRM version of a game through some third party sight via an overly complicated process when you can just torrent/steal (Person in story would have basically been pirating anyway) said game with no DRM yourself in minutes --> moronic

Yeah, I really don't know why people aren't willing to just toss a couple dollars down for a game they want. Don't Starve goes on sale for like $4 on the Humble Store, so he'd get a Steam and DRM free copy there if he wanted.

To be honest, DRM versions of games mean nothing to me. At least he was offering something instead of just asking for the game straight up. Majority of people want the Steam version which he wasn't asking for anyways. Seems a little pointless reading that considering the scammers and true lowballers out there.

DRM free games are better than the ones on Steam, you actually own them.

That doesn't mean much to people if they don't enjoy playing them though. Steam provides a host amount of features DRM free games lack. Features that I find necessary in order to fully enjoy the game.

I think you misunderstood it, the game that was given away was Receiver(developed by Wolffire), not Don't Starve(developed by Klei).

I also while trading in TF2 items, seen some guys that put their listings on backpack.tf for example 3.66 ref for genuine awper, then i offer them, then they reject/counter offer even tough i put for listing price, and counter offers say 4 ref. So weird people right now... Also i seen guys who don't accept weapons as pure, asking for rep,and such.
