I am looking for a really good over ear headset that are like the beats but not because I do not like beats as too many people have them. I would like them to be big as I have a big head, so ones like dr dre studio.
Thanks

Beats themselves aren't worth the price. You practically pay $300 just for the name(Beats by Dr Dre). I don't have any specific models to recommend but I can recommend brands like Audio Technica or Grado Labs.

Sennheiser, Audio Technica, Pioneer, Denon are good brands to look for. Also, those beats headphones arn't good. They overstimulate the bass so you feel "sucked" into the music... when in fact you're loosing sound quality :/

I personally have a pair of Sennheiser HD 215s that I've pretty much destroyed and taped together again. Not the best things in the world, but I can't bring myself to give em up. :)

Beyerdynamics are good as well :)

Edit: They usually seem to have some extra bass and treble. I don't like that, but most users will like it.

I got a Sennheiser HD595. Sure it's not nearly the best and not even suitable for most people, but I was looking for a natural sound for a low price, and these were PERFECT for me.

I'd recommend the Sony MDR-XB series. They're meant for extra bass but I find them fine for general use. Good price and looks decent.

Dr Dre Beats are okay, but be warned you need to replace the batteries almost every week because the noise cancellation takes up a lot of battery. The price is way too hefty and I personally consider BOSE or Platonics headphones.

Bose is a bigger ripoff than Beats...
How about actually going for brands based on their quality and price rather than ads?

If Bose is a ripoff then how come Bose has really incredible sound quality? Get your facts straight, and if Bose wasn't good then they wouldn't install it into cars. I'd like to see you invent better sound quality - oh wait you're incapable.

No, Bose and Monster/Beats are all about the looks, not quality and are highly overpriced. Mediocre sound and poor build quality. When you compare the quality and price of beats to another brands of headphones in the same price range, Beats are a complete joke. Bose is just as bad.

I'm not even going to argue any further with you because you're obviously ignorant and know absolutely nothing about headphones or sound quality. If you want quality headphones look for Sennheisers or Audio Technicas.

Also car audio is completely different from headphones and even still, Bose car audio products are mediocre.

Are you kidding? Bose is installed in cars because car manufacturers don't pay the consumer price for the equipment -- they pay predetermined contract prices and charge consumers absurd amounts for the speakers, and they then split this profit with Bose. Is this really confusing to you? I mean, anyone with half a brain knows how these things work.

And yes, Bose is garbage for it's price. I never said Bose sucks (it's quite good), I said it's a ripoff. There's a huge difference between the two -- you can buy far better headphones than Bose for the exact same price. If you actually want to know about sound quality and go into the details more, there are plenty of audiophile/headphone enthusiast forums to check out. The biggest (and the one I'd recommend) is Hydrogenaudio.

Also, your logic is pretty damn stupid when it comes to your last sentence... obviously I can't invent better, but that doesn't mean I can't be an informed consumer nor does it mean I don't understand how pricing works. Grow up, go to school, and think before you post.

I own these VMOD, great case to carry in, awesome build quality and about 80% noise reduction without a battery. Plus custom side plates color/names/pic etc. 2yr warranty with 50% off return value on old pair, can't beat that. Comfortable as all hell. And if you need a mic get this AntLion best mic ever, sound quality is amazing and it doesn't pick up ambient noise (other people talking in the room, phone rings). I also own Beats Studio and they feel cheap and need a battery, overpriced is right!

If you call dr dre studio headphones "really good", I'd buy a shitload of overpriced products like those of Apple and Bose if I were you. Good luck :)

You probably have never tried them, so basically you're basing your opinion off of other opinions. I'd like to see someone live their life that way.

Nice assumption, bro. I have used the Beats headphones before, specifically the Studio, Solo, and in-ear models. The in-ear earbuds were unbearable, and the headphones felt brittle and cheap, with average sound. Overpriced headphones for what you're actually paying for (and likely returning them after two months due to the headband snapping).

Look for anything in the 70-200 range labeled Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, Koss, Grado, AKG, Denon, Beyerdynamic, Shure, seriously stay away from Bose and Beats, they are terrible value wise.

Go to Head-fi , they will help you tons based on what you listen to or what you use them for.

I have audiotechnica ath-m30's which are pretty good. They are on the low end for audiotechnica headphones though. Amazon has them for about $50. They also seem quite a bit more durable than the Sennheiser's I've had.

Sennheiser model HD 25-1 II. A lot of audio professionals and DJs use them as they have such good frequency response and build quality. Well worth the cash if you can afford them, or there's the not-quite-as-good-but-certainly-cheaper HD 25-SP II model.

SP II is terrible, I had the misfortune of testing them once. They should be priced at 50 dollars max. The HD-25 are amazing.

Mine's aren't too expensive, I use Steel Series Sibera V2 Headsets. (I use the Red one :X)

The audio is mediocre I think... but I got it mainly for the mic capabilities. I talk on skype with my friends a lot :X
Only thing I was really disappointed with was the volume control. It's so small X_x...

I'd recommend Audio Technica's over Sennheisers if it was a toss up between the two.

The JVC HARX-700 is the best headset for the money. $32 and you're good to go. Doing the foam mod as mentioned on the head-fi forums will noticeably improve the sound stage. You could spend big money on headphones but it would be better spent on your lady.
