I have I and V. The campaigns there are considered short, but I don't think so, there are ~6 hours of gameplay there, and they are really good. And online is fun, I'm telling you this as a person who doesn't like online.

They are still excellent games, I'll pick them up mostly for their SP campaigns, but I'm certain their MP component is just as intriguing and still with plentiful of players. Thank you for the tip!

This is because Steam only has the special editions, which are twice as expensive

I see EA is trying to boost their sales and earnings before meeting the board and investors.

The discounts are great, but I still won't give my money to EA.

Hell no to Battlefield 3, 4 and Hardline, they have Punkbuster in it. That has one of the most intrusive pos 3rd party anticheats out there. That thing runs on your pc 24/7 even when the game isn't running. I stand very strongly against cheating, but this type of thing is unacceptable.

Here's a list of games on Steam that have this piece of shit in it.

thanks for the warning I'll make a note of it on my launcher not to play these in my library, or at least do it on a steamdeck or some throwaway PC with nothing else on it

BF 1 and 5 steam description.
"Uses Kernel Level Anti-Cheat
EA Anti-Cheat - Requires manual removal after game uninstall"

What I've mentioned has nothing to do with those 2 games. With regards to EA Anticheat, most anticheats are Kernel level. If that is an issue for anyone then I would suggest not playing online games. I can't think of even half way decent anticheat that isn't Kernel level. The EA AntiCheat doesn't uninstall when you uninstall the game, but it does have an uninstall button. Yes, it's an extra step, so I don't consider that a real problem as you are still aware it's in there and can remove it with a button click. The "real" manual removal shall we say is when you have to go into your pc through the files and registry and remove/delete things and there are 3rd party anticheats that are like this, one of them being nProtect Gameguard. Gameguard is one that has caused a massive amount of issues over the years for many people ranging from BSOD to keyboards and mice no longer working to corrupting important files in thier OS. These are the only two 3rd party mainstream anticheats that I can think of atm that I wouldn't put in my PC.

And for anyone interested you can find all the game with Gameguard in the link below. It's really unfortunate it's in Helldivers 2.

A good shout, that.

Though what really gets me is that despite Punkbuster being so intrusive, it's also also been around forever and still not a very reliable anticheat. Even when completely zeroing bullet spray patterns and snap-locking to targets at absolute max visual distance, cheaters have been able to clear servers for extended periods of time without being touched. I mean, sure, it'll have been updated over the many years it's been active, but it was bemusing to have memories of it from when Battlefield 2 was 'recent', and then join on the tail end of Battlefield 3 and find the same behaviours were still flaunted.

Maybe I expect too much from anticheats in online games (I can't say I know what things they monitor and what refinements they undergo), but if we sacrifice that level of intrusion then it should have been for a noteworthy increase in efficacy over less intrusive methods, surely?

I am a pure single player player and i am going for 100% achievements in most games in my steam library. Will i be ok with the battfield games? I see that the BF 4 multiplayer is offline so i wont be able to get all achievements. How are the 1/5 in this? Is the grind too much in multiplayer to get them all? The prices are amazing.
