Well I heard some nice things though if you're going to get it why not go all the way and get the ultimate edition?

Dragon Age is fantastic. An RPG with a massive amount of things to do, tons of replayability, an engaging story, a compelling cast of characters, great art style, and expansive combat (which is especially true on PC). When I played it it was fairly well optimized too, and I played it years ago on my shitty laptop.
The awakening expansion adds a whole other adventure to the game. It's significantly shorter than the main game, but still a lot of fun and worth getting IMO. I think the Ultimate Edition comes with the other DLCs as well too, which are fun little quests. Also the DLC character Shale is many people's favorite character, and at least my second favorite character.

I second this comment, because there's not much more one can say about Dragon Age: Origins than what LoneFullmetal just said.
If his description sounds appealing, then go ahead. Awakening is great as well, like he said, so get both if you're convinced. I've unfortunately never played any of the DLC though, so I can't recommend them or not.

+1 to getting the Ultimate Edition. It's so much extra content for so little money when it's on sale that it would be foolish not to buy it.

i love this game, finished it 100% on origins without any expansion, recently got the ultimate edition and i gotta say the expansions are really good too

Awakening brings a whole new campaign to the game. So, yeah, it's worth to grab. Try to get the Ultimate Edition instead, if you can. I can't buy UE here, but was gifted it by someone from USA, which was redeemable just fine. So if you're not from the US, you should get someone there to get it for you.

Wow. Thanks for that. I didn't realise it was on sale.
I own the game on the 360 and it is my favourite game of all time. The combat can be pretty fun because you can mix it up with different skills and party members and whatnot but the reason I love it so much is the story and the characters. DA:O is the first game where I actually gave a shit about the characters. Some decisions made me feel feels I had never felt in a game. I've always wanted to try it on PC so I think I may buy it later on if I'm able.
Also, Awakening was really good too. It's like an extra little campaign at the end of the main game. If it's on sale, the Ultimate Version is the way to go.

Get the Ultimate Edition.
Also, a bit off topic, but just look at this amazing offer (probably exclusive for Ukraine) - DAO + Awakening

Get the Ultimate Edition if you can. If you can't buy it normally, buy it with TF2 keys (3.5 keys seems to be the best price you can get it for - 3 keys & 1 Tour of Duty Ticket) and trade with someone.

Yep, that's what i'm going to do. I foung someone who has it and he's trading for 3.5 keys. I bought the keys, he has the game, but i have a 6 days restrictions on trades for logging with an other computer......
But i'll definetely get the ultimate edition after seeing everyone's comments.

Fantastic game, played through it to 100% two times over back in my Xbox gaming days :)
Awakening is a true expansion pack and not some weaksauce 30 minute DLC. Well worth it to get both.

I recommend the ultimate edition.
buying the base game then later deciding that you want the add on will only disappoint you if the only thing available in your region is the base game + awakening. You could always trade for it anyway.

Get yourself the Ultimate Edition, then go to the BioWare web and download some of the free item dlcs. Thank me later =)

Purchase the Ultimate Edition.
When you start your game, do make sure that "Old Campaigns" is not grayed out. It was for me and I didn't know the significance. Put simply, it means that you will be playing Dragon Age without any DLC.

Dragon Age: Origins is an amazing game and I highly recommend it. Although Awakening isn't absolutely necessary, it does add a lot more gameplay including new specializations, quests, level cap, etc. If you do get it, search around on the BioWare site as you can get all the past promotional DLC for free (such as preorder bonuses and what not.)

Get the game, its GREAT RPG,not GOTY,but probably near that title. Also-Awakening add soooo much than any other DLC(except Skyrim) to the game. Buy Ultimate edition and dont even ask again!

Hi there,
Just saw that Dragon Age is on sale on the steamstore, I heard a lot about it but I was still wondering how is it? Also is it necessary to buy the expansion Awakening? What more does it bring?
Thanks.
And here my thank you gift:
