We all know Fortix is like everyone's little brother here on Steamgifts. And now.. after all these years, its finally in a Bundle.

I think Fortix should NOT be added to the bundle list.

Why you ask? The game is only a dollar ($1) anyways. Always has been. So there's no way to contrib boost (cv boost) with this game. Everyone needs to own this game, and like most games that end up in the bundle list, my fear is it will never be given away again.

EDIT 2: May 25th/14
It has come to my attention of a rumor that "Race the Sun" is NOT going to be put on the Bundle list as it was only 90% off with the lowest tier. Yet it was in that Humble Bundle Daily

I hope this rumor is proven to be false as we all know this would do an injustice to FORTIX as FORTIX was ever in one Bundle and it was a bonus to the $1 tier. Which means, Fortix was 0% off. ZERO Percent off.

Long Live the King.

Like you said above
No one buys it to boost their value, but probably no one will give it if it's on the list.

If no one buys it to boost value, there's no reason not to give it away even if it's on the list.

The reason no one buys it to boost their value is no one CAN boost their value with it. It is never on sale so whatever value you get is always what you actually paid.

How come? Most of sg's frontpage is bundle games. Also, only bundle giveaways group is the most active giveaway group i have ever seen. Nobody stops you from giving bundle games and nobody gives fortix for c.v.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

"...nobody gives fortix for CV"; sure we don't, but there are cases like Delta, and thus we don't want his CV to drop just cause this game is bundled. If it drops, he probably won't give away Fortix on the level he has done before.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The only reason fortix has 5k gifts is because it is a "tradition". Giving away fortix is already not cv efficient but people give it away because it is fortix.

Permalink

Yep, thus keeping it off the list will uphold the tradition.

If it's a real "tradition" a bundle list will not affect it.

You cannot teach new members a tradition if it's being discouraged with a restriction.

Part of the "fortix tradition" is buying a game at full price and giving it away just because. CV boosts do not matter in the "fortix tradition". Also, new members benefit from bundle games until they reach the $30 point.

Unfortunately not. I've hardly seen a Magicka giveaway ever since it's been bundled. Same goes for Fortix 2, and it's recently been unbundled. So the list is a death warrant for the games in it.

Magicka and fortix 2 are not "traditions"

True, but they are/have been bundled. I'm saying that the death warrant is the list, and you haven't proven otherwise.

No! I just say that the price of a game should not be considered when you are criticising a game for it's content.

A game's price should be considered when you are figuring out if you want to buy the game.

If you bought a $1 game and had the same fun with a $50 game this does not make the $1 game better as a game. It just gives a better value for it's money.

That lvl was so impossible I beat it in the dumbest way possible, but I did beat it. If you don't have a lot of spare lives, it won't work.
It worked like this -> go through the middle of the map (vertically) -> die -> you're immortal for a couple of seconds, use it to capture as much of land as you can -> eventually you'll make it to upper half (if you started at bottom) -> There you go, half of the map captured (make sure Xitrof is there). Finishing is easy.

Fortix 2 It keeps being given away is what happens later.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not as much as what it would have been if it wasn't on the list.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

um, no? because I doubt nearly as many would've been given away if it weren't in a bundle in the first place. I bet you 9/10 were bundle copies.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

With the current price tag of $2 that it has, I assure you it would have given as many if not more than what it currently has.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

With the current price tag of $1, Fortix should be given as many times as if it were put on the bundle list.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's not about the price tag, it's about the relative sale price. Being in a sale >75% off I'd say is the biggest factor driving giveaways.

You know what, OK here's a challenge:
Show me 1 game that had fewer giveaways after it was bundled and I'll concede your point.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Uhhh... Are you looking at the same graph I'm looking at? It's been given away much more steadily since it was bundled on May 31, 2012 than before then.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

True, it is more steady, but the fact is that it had fewer giveaways per month.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm not sure if you're trolling at this point or you just don't know how to read graphs.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I know how to read graphs just fine. There's been only one, and one spike since then.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

But you are blatantly incorrect. Amnesia has had a much higher number of giveaways per month after being bundled than before.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The only two spikes I've seen since it was bundled is around the month of June, which coincides with the bundle, and somewhere around August this year. The first can be taken as bundle giveaways entirely while the latter can be taken as a real spike.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You stated: the fact is that it had fewer giveaways per month.

Once again, this is blatantly incorrect, even ignoring the spikes in June 2012 and August 2013, when it was in the Humble Bundle 5 and PewDiePie weekly, respectively. You are essentially trying to argue that 1+1 isn't 2.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Amensia, First bundled May 31,2012
Previous 1 month (april 2012): 8
1 month after (jun 2012): 80
6 months after (nov 2012) 15
1 year after (may 2013): 19

So 1 big spike during the bundle, and a return to slightly higher than average despite being in the bundled list. That's the opposite of what I asked for. It must return to a lower than previous level after the bundle, not higher.

(Disclaimer: I have read no other posts in this thread.)
Bundling probably has a similar effect to pirating. It increases the number of copies out in the market and increases the awareness of the game.
Your stat is also bias, it doesn't take into account the SG userbase.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You should probably at least read through the comment thread you are replying to because your post isn't really that relevant to the argument at hand.

CHTonRage stated that the Amnesia graph shows that giveaways per month of Amnesia were much less after being bundled than before. It's clearly not the case no matter what angle you look at the graph from.

1 and 2 definitely are. PB requires all giveaways, or what is called blinks, to be "approved" by law, the admin. It also has a "donate" function.

It's been discussed to death already, not feasible and not gonna happen. Only reliable way to do this would be to go the route of GameMiner or Playblink by having bots handle the gifts. Steamgifts is a user-to-user kind of site and cg as expressed in the past that he doesn't want keys or gifts hosted on the server or bots.

3 ways with ur addition, not best or easy to use, but still.
Transale if you care, but typing this in english woulda take too much time.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

As I said, it's only feasible if a bot handles the gift from SteamGifts' side and this is something that cg already said he doesn't want. No matter how talented a programmer is, or group of programmers, it still can't be done as this info is not available anywhere in any reliable form.

Yeah the bundle system does need an overhaul of some sort. My idea is that bundle games should give partial cv based on the value of the cheapest bundle they have ever been in. So if a game was in a $1 bundle with 4 games then it would give a guaranteed $0.25 cv and the rest of its value would follow the current cv calculation.
