They were exploited with that russian keygen, no? I don't recall much else.

As a preemptive warning, use them on your Steam alt account. Not worth risking main acc for.

I don't think Steam takes any further action than removing the game if the dev/pub requests it.

Don't know for sure, but look at that Bioshock thread - lots of people had game removed but no one was banned etc.
