How do you guys feel about elderly women (60+) playing games or even elderly men? Would you want to interact with someone of that age group?

I don't see why that would be a problem of any sort.

But isn't a gamer, a gamer. You obviously have something of interest because you're both online playing. If you're in the same game, there is another point that you have in common.

It's among others because of the difference of views/opinions that i find older generations very interesting ? What to talk about ? But about those very differences, and their why, and their consequences etc.

However i admit that i find the young generation ( like 19 rofl ) boring overall because i don't see any novelty in it overall whereas someone around 50 will always have something new to me.

There's something to be said for differences in "socializing" between people in different life-phases. Whichever phase you're in, it tends to affect the people you're around and the interactions you have with them. Conversation, on the other hand, is limited only by the attention span of the people involved. One of the keys to finding people interesting is drawing out their personal experiences. Everyone has a story to tell, and people usually don't mind talking about themselves if they feel they have an interested audience.

lol I actualy found a 50 something lady one time and when I asked if wasn't she too old for this she said "why, I don't have anything better to do. Cant I just play my game" ....couldn't argue with that so I went on and beat her in the game :3

To put this into perspective, I'm "pushing fifty" and have gamed/continue to game with people older than myself. The only problem I run into when dealing with "young people" is that I have a much broader life experience to draw from and hence a more complete perspective. Of course, being older also means you've (usually) learned more patience, so I don't mind "dumbing myself down" to the level of those with whom I'm gaming.

Getting back on topic, however, I have no problem with anyone gaming. It's a past-time, like watching TV or playing cards. It bothers me when immature players make it unpleasant for anyone who's not a young male, and I speak up about that, but most of the people I play with are over 25, anyway, so it's not usually an issue. (Yes, there are plenty of women over 25 who game.)

I don't care about age while gaming as long as they're nice to talk to then, yes why not :)

Is 50 really that old? My dad is 50 and he games a lot but I wouldn't say he's elderly.
I've never really known the age of anyone I'm playing with so I don't care if they're young or old or anywhere in between.

I think it depends on your age. When you're in your teens, 30 sounds old, but as you get older, the difference doesn't seem as great as it did when you were kids.

It really depends a lot on background and how late it takes you to mature. In the U.S., people don't seem to grow up, these days, until they hit their mid-thirties. (Sometimes, not even then.)

If I'm playing online with someone, I rarely know their age anyway. It allows anyone to make friends with anyone unless its blatantly obvious their young.

I fully plan on playing games well into my 60's and above. Nothing would please me more than to own some kid a third of my age in gaming. Just adds to my trash talking techniques.

"Yeah! Grandpa beat you! Muahahaha!"

Gamer Tag could be something like Mr. Wrinkles. Would be great.

I'm 40 now, and pretty sure I'll still be playing well into my sixties. If it's about in-game interaction I don't see the age difference as a problem. Maybe you won't have much to chat about outside of games, but you could also be surprised. You know you at least have one interest in common with the person.

Personally, I would rather play with an older group. When I had an X360 still, I played A LOT of BF3 on there, and CoD prior to that. I believe that playing with an older, or at least more mature group is always better, nothing that turns you off a game like teenagers using racial slurs and profanities constantly.

Older people are more mature, okay not always but I think I prefer to play with older people than kids.

Thanks everyone for your comments. It's really nice to see that people can respect other gamers based on attitude/effort rather than age. I'm a female, mother of three boys and I'm just as crazy as they are for CS:GO, Borderlands 2, Alan Wake, etc. I'll be 60 next year. I don't usually try to emphasize that I'm female as I think people won't want to play. I'm still learning and bless your souls for the patience.

Kinda hard to realize you are a woman from the nickname.

Being an ex-chess player, i have played against people over 60 and lost to them. If you want to catalog chess as a sport or not, it is still a game.

My mom around that age too, she cant stop playing candy crush, a lil bit more casual than you, but meh. I prefer see her playing candy crush than watching her lose the money at the casino.

If i saw someone around their 60's, i would probably be curious for a moment, since its unusual, but i wouldnt be surprised at all.

BTW, its extremely annoying to play with teenagers, even with people in their early-mid 20's.

This name I've used for years, started out as a joke -- Deathfinder -- I find death as I was always getting killed in World of Tanks when I first started out. I still die, but not just as frequently. I have seen so many "Deathfinder" in games these days. I love the Walking Dead, Left4Dead, Dead Island, etc. I also used to play Farmville, Tetris, Bejeweled, etc. I don't understand why people have to make racist comments and negative comments against other gamers, I just don't get it, we're all here to enjoy ourselves.

Inmature, thats the proper word.

Most games i play are very competitive in nature. Of course you are going to be mad (in a good way) if some one is beating you. But from that to start insulting.....

I don't ask nor care about age or gender. All I really care is if they're nice or not. If they're friendly enough, then I'll talk/play with them since that's all that really matters in a game anyway. I usually get more annoyed at younger gamers as they tend to be rude and awfully entitled. But again, even if it's blatantly obvious they're young, as long as if they're nice, I'll help them out.

Besides, people mistake both my age and gender constantly. I've had more than one person 10 or so years my senior surprised when they found out how old I am. The joke with me (offline) has always been that I look much younger than I am, but act way too old. :p

When I first started playing Borderlands 2, I was wearing earphones so as not to disturb anyone and all of a sudden I got a critical hit and I was so into the game, that I responded with what I heard -- "Critical, bi atch" and two of my sons just started laughing. When I turned around, they stated "Did you really just say that?" It was quite strange for them to hear me say it, so now I don't repeat things from the game.

This reminds me of a recent italian playstation ad: Il Compagno Giusto - By The Pills

Title of the video: "the right companion"

The guy is basically saying stuff like "cover me!", "Help me!", "I'm almost dead!", "they are hitting me!", "nooo, I'm dead! :(" and she's all "You didn't tell me you were an incompetent! You made me look bad with the Koreans!"

So awesome haha I want to be like that when I'm older! heh

I've played with older dudes than me in L4D2 once, dunno their ages and really, to me someone is old once he gets close to 70 ( i'm 18 btw ):P Well, those guys were so damn funny XD they all had mics, and i was cracking up at their reactions during the game x) There's no difference between the ages, only maybe older people are more mature than young people, who tend to insult every single thing that they see when they rage, and it's not all of the kids who are acting like that ...

I've played with a 45 year old on a TF2 trade server. He was a nice guy, very funny, and was from the same city as me. As soon as he said his age (on his mic) some douchebag started with the "Aren't you too old to be playing videogames!?" bullshit. I'm 28 and will more than likely play video games til the day I die.
