Have you had a similiar exprience? (and not only about games, can be about anything)
I feel you. I had to deal with the same issue 2 weeks ago, though in my case it's due to working for 3 weeks without a single day off. By the time I had a day off I didn't have the motivation to do anything (neither playing games nor watching anime).

As other have said, it happens to a lot of people.
I didn't play games for about 2 years. Similar story - work got busy, I did more things irl.
There are only so many hours in a day, when I'm gaming a lot I feel like I'm neglecting another part of my life - sould be working out more, or socializing, things like that.

Sounds like you got burned out. I'm kinda in that same 'Got-Games-but-just-no-motivation-to-Game' mood sometimes.
So I go to youtube at watch stuff i'll never play, or watch some movies. You'll start feeling better afterwards

Sometimes life just gets in the way and that doesn't bother me when it gets in the way in a good way, but when it does so in a bad way........

Happend to me some time ago when I had more important things to do and gaming was left on the side to make time for other stuff. Work in particular eats up so much time and gets me so tired some days I don't even want to play anything when I get back home but in the end I did find back to gaming starting with little (indie) games which I could play and enjoy in short bursts and found back to bigger titles playing them on weekends or when the weather is bad outside. So if you want to get back to gaming, just try different things out :) or try a different genre which might interest you - perhaps the switch might be the way back into it, I'll wish you the best of luck getting back into it! And thank you for the opportunity to win this :3 Bump!

Certainly bumping.
Concerning the topic: once you get a fulltime job, start dating/engage, go more in for sports - you are just too drained to play. This happens to me quite often as well. Just try enjoying all those things, it's the best way if you don't want to get depressed

Yeah I'll get into slumps when I'm constantly exhausted, the thought of playing games then feel like too much effort and don't have the energy/concentration to focus and enjoy the game. I'll normally watch youtubers play, especially co op party games since it's just a bunch of fun. I think it's normal to get into these slumps, life happens or you just get other interests for the time being. It can be a lil frustrating but I've learned not to stress about it or force things. Even in my longest moments of not doing the things I love (~8 months?) I came back and was in a better state of mind/able to have fun again. :D Thanks for the giveaway and best wishes!

i'm kinda in that state of mind as well, on the one hand i want to enjoy myself and play the games in my backlog to relax but on the other hand i'm at university so i'm constantly thinking "i should probably work on that thing" and then instead of doing any work i just procrastinate for as long as possible in a state of non-relaxation watching netflix

Got really busy too (new job) and I don't know, the exact opposite happened. When I come home the first thing I do is launch a game... I find Devil Daggers much more interesting/challenging than my work so... I kinda need games to let go, I'm freaking anxious and that's the only thing that can make me forget all the silly little things I am stressed out about.
Glad you found something you like in gaming again! Was afraid the thread would end on a sad note...
And thank you for the GA!

School, work, family, adulthood... all have ways to creep in and steal your free time. For me I'm lucky to get more than 30 minutes to play games in one day. Weekends sometimes are worse because I'm out doing things all day that I couldn't do during the week because I was working. :P

Hello...
So basically my steam stats says it all, i have played only 2.9 hours past 2 weeks..... :(
I don't know exactly what the fuck happened but for the past 1.5 years I haven't been playing video games as much as I used to, It's part due to the fact that I have to study and work at the same time now and I don't have as much free time but It's not the main reason, I have the time to play video games but it just feels like there is no interesting game out there, I still follow the gaming "world" :| though. news, trailers, youtubers, etc. but when it comes to playing games myself nothing seems interesting, and that's the weird part because there are definitely games i want to try, when i see videos of some games I'm like "shit that game looks fire I have to try it" but then when I get close to trying the game... Its like games have become fun to watch but not fun to play, and I hate
And I really really miss gaming, I found some of the best friends I've had in my life when playing video games, some of the best and most memorable moments I've had in my life were because of video games.
I've been studying more, working and going out more (and according to people "doing actual things" more) but let me tell you, it's hasn't been fun :D There are definitely other things I enjoy but non of them compare to my "gaming days" :| , I think It's because i basically grew up with video games, the group of friends i had were all into video games and that's what ours lives revolved around, gaming...
But then I got to try the Nintendo Switch a few weeks ago, and I'm really really excited about it!
when Nintendo Switch was first announced my reaction was "meh...". I can say I'm pretty familiar with nintendos IPs and consoles but the wii u was a failure and i had a 3DS but it became boring to me after a few months, even after switches full presentation last month i was still negative about the whole thing but after trying it, it just feels great in hand, and the new Zelda game is just sooooooo enjoyable to play, I played it for just around 30 minutes and i legit didn't want to stop playing, i was so sad when they said my times up :( I didn't pre order it but im completely sold on the Switch and specially Zelda, It's the first time I'm excited about a game in the last 1.5-2 years and it just feels great!
And now about why i decided to write all these here, SteamGifts was one of the last communities i joined and got attached to it, it was mostly because of trading but the community itself was great, so many friendly users and so fucking many hilarious discussions!
i don't know how it is now because almost all my closer friends i know from steamgifts/trades have stopped trading, i just wanted to write all these and kinda thank the community. Here's a random giveaway(requires lvl2), one of those games that i really really want to play but i couldn't get myself to actually play it :/
Thanks for reading...
