For me, he will always be the voice. Mostly known for voicing Batman in the Arham series (when it comes to video games) but he also lent his voice to Batman in the acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series. He was 66 at the time of passing.
Rest in peace.

He was vengeance.
He was the night.
He WAS Batman.

He voiced the best incarnations of Batman, and I'm easily including all the live stuff there.

Now I'm blue. :(

Don't think I agree with that. Adam West will always be the original Batman in my eyes. But Conroy was a close 2nd.

I fully agree that West was the original Batman -- in fact he was my actual introduction to Batman, believe it or not, even before any comics -- and he put in a great performance.

But Conroy will always be the best portrayal to me, as the most serious and grounded take on the character while still keeping Batman epic, without going either for silliness, over the top theatrics or reducing Batman to just a guy in a suit.

Absolutely. Just as Mark Hamill will always be the GOAT Joker, Conroy is the best Batman. I grew up reading Marvel comics with Batman being the sole exception and when it comes to what the two companies have done animated, Marvel can't touch what DC cartoons have done and are still doing. Even though HBO canceled the new Paul Dini Batman cartoon it was still supposedly going to be made and just shopped around for a new home and even if Conroy wasn't going to play the part it would have been great if he had a guest role, even just for one episode, kind of like they did with Adam West and The Grey Ghost in Batman TAS.

Iconic voice of batman from videogames.
Also remember his appearance as bruce wayne in CW's crisis on infinite earths.

They did his character really dirty in that crossover, though. Still, at least he technically got to be Bruce Wayne in live action, which is awesome.

I know they've already recast joker in some of the later films but these two forever define batman

The guy deserves a homage, I expect to see this soon by DC and WB.

I honestly don't want what WB and DC are in their current state to do any kind of homage beyond just condolences. Unless it's cancelling all their live action output and starting over from scratch, that would be a nice homage.

Careful what you wish for, they might honor him as an NFT given how tone-deaf and mismanaged both DC and WB are

Well that sucks considering how important he was to the franchise, you guys are aware of the situación with both companies.

That's terrible news. He did a great job voicing Batman. I remember watching the premiere of B:tAS in college with several friends.

... and only now am I ready for the premise of Gotham Knights.

They say he was the first actor to ever do separate voices for Bruce Wayne and Batman. His regular voice as Wayne and then a gruff voice when I'm his costume. And now they all do it. Not sure if I can remember whether or not Michael Keaton may have done this when he played the part live-action but I have seen it attributed to Kevin Conroy in print before.

Yes, Keaton was the first to do it in live action. His Bruce was just his regular voice while his Batman is noticeably darker and subdued (without making it as over the top as Bale). Of course BTAS owes a lot in general to the 1989 Batman -- music, the style, and even the design of the Batmobile.

To be fair, though: Adam West made the most of the fact that he basically used the same voice for both.

I'm just still kinda amazed with how TAS was actually kinda scary, like the two part episode Feat of Clay, and how sympathetic they made the villain's, like the way they recreated the backstory of Mr Freeze. There's a follow up animated movie about Freeze's story that gives him the moderately happy ending he deserved it you haven't seen it.
