What sound should play when Space Cat appears?
The first time Space Cat visited me was scary enough, even without sound. This thing is like jumpscare for newbies! :D

I never have sound on when I use my computer either. If there was a sound I imagine it would be something like "Hey everybody! This guy isn't working!" :P

The song is Hooked on a Feeling, as played by Blue Swede in the 70's (though the song itself is from the 60's, and for some reason Blue Swede added the ooga chacka part for some reason, it really does not fit in with the song at all). The first bit of the song, together with that dancing baby was one of the earliest cases of really wide spread internet memes, with the clip I linked to above being circulated as early as 1996. It was featured in Ally McBeal after it had become big on the internet, but I guess this would be one of the first, if not the first, case of a mainstream TV-show picking up an internet meme like this.

Also, wow, that flag Blue Swede has in the background. With a font like that, chances are they would be mistaken for a neo-nazi group these days (well, the silly song might actually save them for that, but if you just see the video clip without sound, it does look a bit iffy).

I suspect my modem would have struggled to download anything like that in 1996 (I think my modem speed was around 28,800) but I do remember it from the TV :)

I did not get internet until a year later, and then I think we had a 56K modem. The video was really low quality, and short, and even back then I really did not see the point of it.

Please just don't, many of us are checking the site during work, sounds are NSFW ;). Yes I'm listening to the music while working, so no turning sound possible here, I would fall asleep without the music. Of course if the sound would be optional that is completely different story.

It there would be, i would try to find a way to disable that, since i just find it irritating if a website just automatically starts playing sound, no matter what they want to show with it.

I realized I don't know because I've always had my sound off when he showed.
