Hey guys,

I really love gaming and I'm interested in many genres. And I have a lot of games, which I really want to play.
But everytime I play a game, and I really like it it often comes to that moment when I think "ah maybe I play something different, I come back to this game the next day". It's really hard for me to have the motivation to really finish a game and see the end credits.
How do you motivate yourself? Did you have any tips for me?
I have a BLAEO account, which really helps and I'm in the play or pay group since this month. I hope, this will also help.

So, here is the obligatory GA ๐Ÿ˜‰

I appreciate your answers! Thank you!

boost your moral to finish a game

Morale, a moral is an inherent principle relating to the distinction between wrong and right. Though enthusiasm may be a better word choice, since morale [1: โ€œthe capacity of people to maintain belief in an institution or a goalโ€ 2: "the capacity of a person to maintain belief in themself or others"] has a differing implication toward mood and a traditional and more typical application in regards to groups, that makes it a bit more unusual to associate with this kind of topic.

I mean, unless you're trying to say that it's hard to complete games 'cause we keep getting distracted by our own immorality or lack of self-confidence. ..In which case, yeah, we should probably go and do something about that. :P

I find myself running into a wall on some games - I don't want it to end, so I stop playing.
Yeah I know that sounds stupid, but I've restarted Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 times and haven't even made it to any sieges. Not sure how far along in the game I actually am, and probably will never finish it. I've probably done every side quest, but very few main quests.

I don't know, I just randomly hop onto whatever I have installed and feel like playing. I know I'll finish them eventually so I just try to enjoy whatever it is I'm playing at the moment. If you finish one you'll eventually get back to another you haven't finished. Sometimes I re-play them to get achievements or to choose a different path. Play whatever you want =)

I only play one game in each 'category' at a time. My three main categories are games I play by myself, games I play with my girlfriend, and visual novels.

I also, conversely, am pretty lenient with just dropping a game. Since I can't play anything else in that category, it forces me to come clean with just dropping a game I dislike and I'm avoiding playing. I have much better games to play!

Constantly chasing those 100% clears helps, too.

I usually finish all the games I started. To me, part of the trick is to not play games of the same genre or theme at the same time, (for instance, not two RPGs or two horror games at the same time, etc.) That keeps the "cycle" fresh, as you can jump to anything you're in the mood that day and it makes it easier to end up as a finisher. Also, never start anything new until you finished one, so you are always replacing old stuff with new stuff but is not that chaotic that way.

Playing isn't a job, the objective is to have fun, not to finish games that bore you. Move on happily to games that you enjoy playing, and ditch the ones you don't without mercy.
