Using a wired headset works perfectly fine.
The point of the entire discussion is to get a wireless headset to work with Steam.

Using Logitech 930s here, with no problems whatsoever.
Did the two wireless sets plug into a USB slot, whereas the wired ones connected directly to the soundcard? It may be that this is an issue, rather than the fact your headphones are wired/wireless?
Hope you get things sorted :(

My original wired headset was USB plugin by Logitech.
I've searched the Steam forums and found plenty of people having problems with Steam and USB wireless headsets since I've come across this conundrum.
But no true fix, and some of the posts were a few years old.
I wouldn't mind getting Logitech g940's, but I kinda needed a headset ASAP as it's my only way of audio.

I needed to buy a new headset because the wire in my old ones broke and made the speakers cut in and out, so I figured I would get a wireless set.
However, every time I plug them in, Steam crashes during launch. And if I unplug them, Steam will launch successfully, however, attempting to launch any game which would use Internet - Borderlands 1+2; Left 4 Dead 1+2; etc - results in a game crash.
The first set I picked up were Afterglow Prismatic's.
The second set which I have now, are Turtle Beaches PX3's.
Both get the same results in Steam crashing while they're plugged in.
Both have the latest drivers installed.
So is anyone else having this problem with their wireless headset?
And most importantly, has anyone come up with a solution?
