... those aren't even point and click games. They're cutscenes that let you pick the largely superficial dialogue options.

The Walking Dead was enjoyable, so was Wolf Among Us. I own more Telltale I haven't played yet.. I think my top three are.. The Blackwell Series. I've started The Night of The Rabbit and it seems great so far. To be honest my library is a fucking mess and I can't think of anymore because I've had a glass of wine. THE CAT LADY. That game is awesome.

I don't really play this genre of games but some I have in my library/played : -
point and click games that I don't own but want to play :-

Sorry for the teeny-tiny correction, but Nightmares from the Deep is a hidden object game. (sorry, just clearing things up)
THOUGH! it's mechanics are quite similar to traditional point-and-click games, and it's story also quite solid.
If OP is intrested in Nightmares, I'd suggest also the other Artifex Mundi HOgames: The Forsaken Bride and Enigmatis 1-2 were my favourites :)

But if you would something more mature then read comments in this discussion.

But the best would be some classic point and click game from LucasArts.

I like point and click games. The best ones I have played so far are (not in order):
The Longest Journey
Machinarium
The Whispered World
Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes
I own and am looking foward to playing (yes, many hours of point and click in my future):
Deponia
The Night Of The Rabbit
Syberia 1 and 2
The Samaritan Paradox
Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure
The Dream Machine: Chapters 1-4
Post Mortem
Still Life 1 and 2
Samorost 2
The Journey Down Chapter 1
Cognition Episode 1 and 2
Broken Sword 1 and 2
The Cat Lady
Jolly Rover
Honorable mentions for nestalgia and FMV (haven't played yet):
Harvester
Realms Of The Haunting
The 7th Guest

A few honourable mentions.
The Book of Unwritten Tales is quite fantastic. Both in terms of how its tongue-in-cheek treatment of the generic fantasy setting never makes it feel tacky, and in terms of how lovely the puzzles were.
Ben There, Dan That (along with Time, Gentlemen) is pretty fun if you can get past the rather simplistic graphics.
The Dream Machine has got a lovely sombre story (not to mention the stylish visuals).
Oknytt adds some nice new mechanics to the usual inventory fiddling point-and-click fare. And the Norse folklore setting just oozes atmosphere.

2nd on Book of Unwritten Tales. My wife lists it as her favourite game of all time and she loves point and click games. I even watched her play the whole thing and thoroughly enjoyed being a spectator. Number two is next on her list and, if it's half as good, I'm sure she'll love it.

It's not a "pure" point and click game, since it has RPG elements, but you should try Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok. It's free and REALLY well done.

There are plenty of good point & click games on Steam, but not every game will be to everyone's taste. Shadowgate for an example is in my opinion excellent, but it's also very punishing and might frustrate some. The Longest Journey is very story heavy (and it has a great story!), but its puzzle are a bit lacking, while Myst has amazing puzzles, but the story is not as amazing. Anyway, here are 3 games I think you should check out:
-Syberia
-The Dig
-Shadowgate
Honourable mentions:
-Myst
-Monkey Island
-The Longest Journey
-Still Life 1 (but not 2)
-LOOM
-Gray Matter
-Gemini Rue
-The Blackwell series
-Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened
That should be enough to get you by.

Definitely check out The Longest Journey. The first Still Life was good too (the storyline is related to Post Mortem).
I'd add Broken Sword 1+2 but the remastered versions on Steam are crap (well, the first one is, can't say I've tried the second one).
I liked the first two Secret Files games as well as Lost Horizon.

The Monkey Island games, on steam are the 1 & 2 ther is also a third one that is the best of the saga in my opinion but you may have to use ScummVM for that and also there is the fourth one which is OK but not as great as the others which also isn't on steam.
Also there is the Tales of Monkey Island from Tell Tale games, haven't played them but any point & click game from Tell Tale is great check them out :)

So you're recommending two games you haven't even played. Cool.

Played the Journey Down: Chapter 1 & 2 and it made me remember how I loved playing Scooby Doo point and clicks when I was a kid.
Which are your top 3 point and click games on Steam?
