I'm a big fan of games from Daedalic Entertainment, but I would not recommend "A New Beginning".

I have not played any of these yet and I don't think they would make it to the top of anybody's list, but they are cheap. IndieGala has a bundle right now that has some point and click games included for a minimum of $1.99. The point and click games are:
Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller (all 4 parts)
Face Noir
The Last Door
Gold Rush! Classic

If you are looking for Syberia 1 & 2 and Still Life, you can get all 3 together on Groupees right now for a minimum of 99 cents. They also have other point and click games if you are interested. You have to buy at least 3, each game has a minimum price of 33 cents at first and they get cheaper if you add more.

It is not on steam, but if you want to feel the real, first true point & click interface than I recommend Smith & Wesson. (note: try not to click on humans. At least not until you need to save yourself from Game Over)

Try Grim Fandango!
LucasArts and Sierra classic adventure games won't disappoint you

Why does it have to be Steam?
One of the best Point'n'Click adventures is Day of the Tentacle
Monkey Island series is great, too (Steam)
Sam & Max series is also fun (also Steam)

Day of the Tentacle is not one of the best...it's the best of all time!

Some of my favourites that I played on steam (not in any kind of order):
All of these are great adventure games, the original The Longest Journey is my all-time favourite, I very strongly recommend it.

Played the Journey Down: Chapter 1 & 2 and it made me remember how I loved playing Scooby Doo point and clicks when I was a kid.
Which are your top 3 point and click games on Steam?
