I started having this same issue yesterday. No problems a few days ago and today any non-steam link I send (save for youtube apparently) comes up as {LINK REMOVED}. This only seems to happen in private chats- all of which where people on my friends list who are well known to me - but the links showed fine in a public steam chat.
In private chat all the links sent to me (some of which I copied and pasted back and showed up link removed on their end) all showed in chat and worked fine. This happened both while in steam beta and when I opted out of steam beta.
I have sent a report into steam support - but I am not holding my breath :/

edit: links that where removed included: my outpost page, newegg.ca, memoryexpress.com, google.ca (however google.com was fine), humblebundle.com, http://www.ncix.com/detail/asus-geforce-gtx-660-oc-04-76367-1139.htm and a few others that I forget.
Links that where fine included: backpack.tf, steamcardexchange.net and youtube.

Not sure why I can view the links I receive but the exact same ones are removed when I send them. Has anyone else been experiencing this?

Pretty sure this has been happening for quite some time, just instead of having the LINK REMOVED tag on chat it was just silently blocking the links, so not many people noticed.

Also, I think they are still experimenting with it since the same links that get removed for some people, appear fine for others.

Edit : Found the relevant thread. Apparently, they are still looking into it.

wow. It's almost pathetic that steam needs to do this because a few people don't think before they click. Maybe users should start taking responsibility for their accounts when they get phished so the rest of us can share real links with our real friends in peace.

sorry for rant, but thanks for the info :)

It seems like it's not intended for all accounts though. That thread mentions it's being tested for some low level accounts so I guess you might not be having the issue later (hopefully).

Well thats good to know, except many of my irl friends use steam as their main chat client, they don't have an interest in trading, collecting or their steam lvl in general which may affect them later. Guess I'll trade up some card sets for them so they don't get stuck later.

Its not only for the phising and scamming. Its also for the moneyz.
Though I never experienced any chat censoring.
