I have some leftovers form various Humble Bundles. There are several games which keys are not activated on Steam, but I can not know for sure which one. If I try to check it on Steam it will probably assign to my library. These couple of games are not activated in my library because I already have them on GOG. For some reason, which I don't remember why, those keys are shown to me, but I know for sure they are not activated, because I already try two of them to check with Steam and now I own them, instead posting it here :(

Is it ok to create a giveaway with those keys which I think are not activated, so that lucky winners will have a chance to enjoy them? Better than not rotting on HB account :)

Try contacting steam support to check whether the keys are used or not, they will figure it out for you. Else you will risk the chance of the key already being used and you'll have a not received on your profile (unless you won't mind). Trying to create puzzles with it works too, too bad if the key would be used in that case.

If you aren't 100% sure then it's probably best to just post them in this thread instead....

Otherwise you'd have to repurchase the game again for the winner if the key is used :o)

In case they aren't working, you can ask the support to delete the giveaway (be aware that you'll have to contact the winner and they have to agree to the deletion).

Hope I helped.

Are they from old bundles ? If yes, it's because the keys were automatically revealed when they disabled the OAuth system.

Thx guys for replies. Yes these are somewhat old bundles (HB 9 and 10).

I've heard you can write to HB support (people say they are super helpful) and they can check if the key was activated and to what account.
Just don't mention giveaways on SG (they don't like that) say instead that you'd like to surprise a few friends with games.

That only works if the keys were activated directly through Humble, so very small portion of the keys.

Oh really, didn't know that. So when it was add to account I think, but that info about activation was lost later on from purchases page. But like I said I never tried this myself.

I already decided that I don't care if the key is used or not, I just made the giveaways and hoped for the best.
If you have couple keys for the same game, only do one giveaway with key you think is most likely used, but you'r not sure and if the winner says it's used then give the other key to him.

Would be great tho, if Steam would implement key checker, but then again that would take away a bit of the income from them.
