I'm guessing that he bought a key that turned out to be a duplicate, so buy at your own risk.

That's actually my used key. I gave it to him so he could check the subID. I didn't have the necessary steamdb browser extension.
Comment has been collapsed.
You get that with the first 11 letters of the steam key? Or how do you know? I was just looking at his picture and it didn't show anything that's in your img that's why I'm confused.
Edit: Oh I guess because above his extension says "Deadpool Retail", I see what you mean now. So if it was the new sub they updated 14 days ago instead of 27773 "Deadpool Retail" it would be the 163 "Activison Comp", in your licenses page as well I'm assuming?

I believe so, yes. I'm not super familiar with steamdb. I only use it to check a subID's metadata, for giveaways.

I used this address: 123 Harry Street, Beverly Hills, California, 90210, United States, added my actual phone number (without the country prefix), set the address as default, selected my card as the payment option and that allowed me to place the order. then just waited for about 30 mins for it to complete.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks. I ordered then it was cancelled saying this:
"We believe that an unauthorized party may have accessed your account. As a security measure, we have disabled your Amazon account password and signed you out of your account."
So I changed my password blah blah blah... then ordered again... same issue. So I did it once more and changed something else in my account and it went through (asked me to confirm through my bank). No payment taken yet though, so the 30 minutes gives me hope. I went into live chat and they just said it's pending and there's no limit on orders, so I got a few titles.

Rise of the Dark Spark looks kind of rad. I've always had a soft-spot for schlocky action/shooter games. Too damn expensive though.
Thanks for the heads-up. 👍

Man, was going to buy the Ultimate Alliance pack, but guess Amazon no longer accept my NZ debit card. Been over a year since I last bought something there because they stopped selling eShop gift cards, but can't make the purchase. :(

Cool, I'm going to guess a remaster, remake is being worked on, also looking at the sub it seems 1.33 years ago they updated the game sub, and just 14 days ago they updated the cd key sub. So either they just requested more keys from valve to sell on amazon at full price, and they'll likely do it again, or they're going to relist it on steam as well, and it will go on at least 50% sales.
Either way, I got no fomo for it to pay $40 for a game from 12 years ago, but I'd give them $5. If it ends up not being relisted and the keys run out and aren't going to be restocked it means it goes back to abandonware which works too.
Keep in mind when you die your steam acc can't be transferred as per the TOS so I don't see the point of investing in stuff like this unless you're a huge fan of the game, case in which you should probably get it and just work overtime to catch up.
163 Activision Comp CD Key 14 days ago

I see, interesting tho, since last year they updated a bunch of packages, not just for deadpool, but many other missing games separate from that package, it would make sense to me they plan to maintain them and eventually bring them back from the grave or something.
It also shows in that package deadpool was updated 31 days ago, and basically all their missing games in the past 3 months. Also why update a complete package sub that's not even for sale? I thought it was going to be the complete activision pack but that's not it.
It would've made sense if the updates in the package were for the cod games or listed games, to relate to their listed complete package that's on sale, but weird they're updating removed games.
Comment has been collapsed.
I guess you can try to circumvent that by leaving that person your phone, all your credentials to your e-mail, etc. so they can access your 2fa or whatever else they need to login to the acc, along with some proof for the acc, like some keys you bought for the account.
Suppose the person then wants to buy a game on the acc, and the name, address, everything is different. I'm assuming that would raise a flag of account change. But maybe it's possible through a will, at valve's discretion?

MUA and Deadpool are on abandonware sites along with others like Blur and Transformers can be found there too. So games like these you can play any time you want. Kind of like the sims 1 and 2 were for years before they got taken down because they finally brought them back to steam which took them out of abandonware status.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's literally abandonware for years. Meaning it's free. Unless you're fomoing for a steam key case in which you're paying for I don't know what tbh. It would be different if they brought it back for $50 and never ever had a sale on it, then sure, but you can't buy it if you want to.
Comment has been collapsed.
Kind of, it's still piracy if you download it though (which is a real issue legally in some countries). You can get it second hand on consoles.
Comment has been collapsed.
Fair, but I don't think there's a single recorded case where they went for someone like this and won. They might go for distributors although all that does is kill media, and sparks a push for these companies to be required to maintain such media, which they also don't want. Even if they were to go after the general person, the individual would end up claiming bankruptcy in the end and the company just losses on thousands of dollars of court fees and whatever fee you had to pay gets dropped, because the fees are outrageous and so is the fee for what they think that should be, the only people who could afford to pay that are big corporations. This is what happened with all the people who were sharing music, despite it being still available for sale, even those people ended up getting it dropped, but I agree it probably wasn't a nice period of their life. I wouldn't stress about it. You're also taking the time to play a game they thought had absolutely 0 interest, so indirectly you're doing them a favor, because they might research into that, reconsider a relisting, remake, remaster, sequel, whatever which only serves them well because they're in the business of making money.
However you're not wrong, it would still be piracy. I just never heard of them going for this because it would cost them loads of money, to charge someone who has none, to fight for media they are unwilling to list for sale or provide support for.
Consider though that thousands of abandonware sites operate safe like this for 5-10-15-20 years now maybe more, by removing the game from their archive once it gets relisted for sale officially anywhere and they don't get taken down. If they aren't targeting those sites at all, why would they target you? You could take this to court to argue that they are not doing anything to prevent the site, but are fishing for small individuals and I think you'd have a solid case. You still broke a rule, but the company is using a trap.
I remember reading a case where this site used to post nintendo games that were still available for sale, in some cases, they'd post games that weren't even released yet by abusing exploits and leaks, and they were running ads on their site or some sort of subscription and eventually they got taken down and fined. Even they returned and are doing it properly now I think with only unavailable games. It was some youtube documentary I saw. It's digital media too, not physical property.

People get threats through the post (UK) about downloading copyrighted material, with demands of quite a bit of money which many can hardly afford. It's not worth the stress really, nor putting this on whoever the internet is paid by.
Comment has been collapsed.
True, but if they had to go after everyone 99% of the uk who uses some sort of digital device would be at fault with how easy it is to break copyright. You could go on yt right now and see a yt short of some tv show and you've broken that law. You watch 2, you just did it twice. Whos more at fault, you, the uploader, yt for not actively blocking it, or the copyrighter for not making that available elsewhere and not dmca'ing said content in the 7 years it's been up?
Still I'd agree not worth the stress if that's how it's handled there. I know there calling someone a dumbass on facebook can land you in trouble. Not sure how enforceable it is but I guess it's a bit of a joke to call it free speech.
I guess what I was trying to say is I've never heard of any game publisher/dev going after one single individual who doesn't distribute, but just downloaded an abandoned game to play through and move on with their life. You also have games whos publisher/dev is extinct but they never officially released the copyright.
Also consider the video game game industry is bigger than the movie and music industries together. They make plenty of money for them to be worried about the $5 they couldn't charge you if they wanted to because they don't even sell that or support it.
Comment has been collapsed.
There are automatic systems in place for those torrenting copyrighted material; letters get sent out with little or no requirements for anyone approving them being sent out.
Calling someone a "dumbass on facebook" does not land you in trouble or I'd be shit out of luck. There is free speech, and I don't care for this rabbit hole you're trying to go down.

Yeah every ISP has something like this I believe it requires the publisher/devs who own the products to sign up for this program and submit versions of every single file of every release as I doubt the gov involves themselves on their own as they got nothing to gain from it. So I can see it being much more relevant for current media, more than likely not abandonware. Sometimes for older games, the publisher/devs want to do remasters and they cannot even find the source code anymore because they lost it 10 years ago.

Do you know the story behind this one? Saw it a long time ago then I read that in the uk there's "free speech" but only for what they wanna hear. source. Not sure what rabbit hole you think I'm trying to go down but maybe you want to elaborate.

I have zero interest, stop trying to engage in that nonsense.

So you wont say it's a lie now, but you don't wanna talk about it either? I didn't actually care to focus on it at all, but you seem to want to shift the discussion to it, which wasn't my intention, it actually seems to be yours. Don't mention it, and we don't gotta talk about it. I would've proffered we were talking about the topic at hand, I mentioned it as a way to maybe understand why you maybe have stricter rules than the rest of the world.

You brought this up:
"Still I'd agree not worth the stress if that's how it's handled there. I know there calling someone a dumbass on facebook can land you in trouble. Not sure how enforceable it is but I guess it's a bit of a joke to call it free speech."
Which I have no interest in, so stop, for the third time.

Lmao you keep mentioning it. I already told you, if you didn't want to talk about it, why do you mention it over and over again? Just let it go already damn. I get it you don't want to talk about it, nor do I care about it, so don't mention it again wtf? You're telling me to stop, but it's you who keeps bringing it up. You need some self control.

It's a bit of a gray area I would think since nobody is selling them retail. So, it's not taking sales away from anybody.
Comment has been collapsed.
Legally it's not a grey area. I agree with being able to play things which are not legally available to buy anymore, but that's not how the law works and can get people in to expensive hot water, so best not to suggest it without a huge caveat.
Comment has been collapsed.
While you're correct technically, the websites hosting abandonware games have never been taken down once for doing this the right way(removing games as they become available again), nor are there any cases to be found where a normal person who doesn't even distribute got in trouble for playing an abandonware game(I legit can't find a single one). So while you are right, I guess the way to go about this is, you'd have to be the unluckiest person on earth in existence for this to happen to you, because it hasn't happened to billions already with lost media.
The more we progress into a need of e-history media preservation world, the stronger the point for abandonware becomes. I also like to think most old retirees would be more than happy(you'll probably extend their lifespan by an entire year in happiness) to know someone is taking the time to appreciate their work even 30 years later after x company they worked for threw it in the forgotten bin for not making enough sales or for not being relevant not wanting to update it to keep it modern. Not everyone up there is evil and wants you to suffer.
You have a point, it's just very weak. So by all means, stay away from that if you are that terrified of it, I respect your decision.
PS: Do also keep in mind if you do get in trouble they'll have to tell you what the damages done were, and damages for something that's not being sold is 0.
Also keep in mind that in the EU and US there is a newer recognized term "Orphan Works", where the copyright owner cannot be found or contacted. In those cases you can even share them with no problems.

You can still get the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games separately for a bit more than the bundle cost

Thanks for the reply, to both of you. I already have Deadpool, but was wondering about the Marvel Ultimate Aliance since I missed my chance of buying them while they were in stock on amazon, so it would be cool to see them return on steam, among some other activision titles. On the other hand I did manage to get Dark Souls on time :)

I'm not saying "It's not possible", I'm saying that a lot of apps also received updates when this happened during the past six months too. It was mostly updating apps to add privacy updates related to the steam depots.
Could it still happen? Yes. But don't hold your breath. Activision is cheap as hell and negotiating these licenses again is expensive, plus updating them for modern hardware isn't always possible.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't know why but in recent years I felt it was making a lot of moves , especially on Steam. Maybe I was oblivious before 2018, but I kept seeing new content as DLC made for them and that made me think a revival is being made. I was not on Steam much before 2018, so maybe you're right and I am wrong about this, but I wish it is the other way around because man... I wish they brough them back.

Still pricey, but way better than the $850+ on grey markets and trading sites. Lowest price before delisting was $11.99.

If you want one act fast. No telling how many are available.
Hopefully its a test to see how well it sells and more oldies pop back up.
NOTE: It says in the description "Currently, this item is available only to customers located in the United States"
It seems to be a retail key
UPDATE: Looks like its sold out for now.
