Mass Effect would be interesting, lots of cool shit to do/see. The argument could be made that you'd want to be in part of a cycle after Mass relays are found, but before Reapers are going nuts, but the Reaper wars seem pretty sweet in terms of meaningful existence, as well as fairly painless death.

Borderlands would be good if you're the kind of person who can just abandon standard living and have fun with it. I've never done well with high temperatures though... hmm... Bioshock seems similar in a few ways, and has the whole plasmids thing which could be interesting on top of the whole lawless fishtank jungle.

The Witcher universe seems like another good one for anyone who is just totally down to abandon reality and go nuts in an interesting fantasy setting/world. Deaths are a lot more painful, and enjoyment is super dependent on your station in life - are you a witcher, are you a sorc, are you human, royalty, soldier, etc.

If we're talking about 1 specific game, and not a universe or whatever, and we assume that you do 'IRL' what you do in that game, I'd go with an MMO just so there is a lot to do. WoW seems like a solid choice... maybe Rift or Aion if you're down for constant vague campaigns against dark forces, or TERA if you just want to make shit bleed.

Fallout 3 (for the obvious reasons + to see Libery Prime in action. Aww yeah).

Beyond Good and Evil. Its world is just beautiful.

Brutal Legend would be quite fun... Just for the fact you can beat the crap out of things with a guitar...

Borderlands would be interesting.
