You can't expect to compare the two. They both serve totally different purposes.

Star Wars is a drama and is therefore more entertaining to most people.

Star Trek is very in depth and sometimes almost political. Star Trek therefore appeals to a different group of people.

Most of today's entertainment is dramatic. There is no doubt that Star Wars will win any vote because its what we are more familiar with. They are totally different fundamentally.

I love star wars and star trek very equally. They're two completely different amazing things. So I'm gonna have to go with potato.

I like both, but I'm more of a Star Trek fan than Star Wars. Honestly though, they're just two very different things.

why would anyone choose ST or SW, if you can have great dances, robots, dangerous asteroids, giant fishes and the war against frogs

It... depends. Both have amazing stories, iconic figures present in the universe, and well known to very broad audience. In terms of games Star Wars wins, with one exception. Star Trek Online beats Star Wars The Old Republic in one, very important aspect - it's real free to play, not a trial :P Played both(subscribed to SWTOR for a year), so can tell ;p

So I have definitely seen a lot of talk on the lack of science fiction in star trek. However, when compared to force users in Star Wars, its pretty obvious which one is closer to reality than fantasy. That being said, Han shot first, and Kahn!!!!!

Well, because Star Wars was never as cheesy and corny as the Original Star Trek series, which I myself find lame as all hell. ok, there might have been that Episode II fiasco with Anakin and Padme. Star Wars has light sabers and people with telekinesis and who shoot lightning from their hands. Star Trek has politics :-p.
