I like them both, old and new ones alike. I find it difficult to have favorite movies or television shows. For every good one they make, there is an equally bad one made.

Star wars as a kid, Trek as an adult. Tbh its really just personal preference at this point.
E: Star Wars totally wins when it comes to good games to come from the franchise. Especially those Lucasarts games as a kid, hell yeah.

A long time ago I'd have said Star Wars...but I've realized how bad ALL the movies were. (And since Disney said fuck you to the expanded universe...the expanded universe rocks!)

Star Trek is science fiction ?
It's just as much fantasy as Star Wars is, not much if the "science" has a base in fact or is even well though-out.
(Compare both with Babylon 5 or, if including video games, Mass Effect).

Yeah, literally nothing in ST is science. Writers don't know difference between power, energy, and work, mistake physics all the time, have telepaths and mind control in show, if you don't count Jedi SW is if anything more SF than ST.
I wouldn't say Babylon is any better, though, they have even more telepathy, author hates actual science and physics, and when they have opportunity to show incredibly advanced first races, they always reduce them to one-dimensional gimmicks. All BV has going for it is vaguely realistic animation of starfighters, but it is so full of space opera tropes this almost doesn't count...

Yeah, I was focussing on the ship designs in Babylon V too much probably - at least the design of the titular space station which is based on the O'Neill cylinder, and some of the other bigger ships around.
Come to think of it, when it comes to proper "hard" sci-fi with actual science, there really isn't that much to go around in terms of series or films for that matter.
