Wukong definitely belongs in the nominations based off what I have seen.

I had never even heard of Astro Bot before... and looking at gameplay while it seems solid doesn't feel like GOTY material(maybe it is... but being PS5 exclusive I won't ever play it(as I won't own a PS5)), Balatro while great feels like to much of a niche for GOTY material to. I would have swapped them out for other titles.

but Diablo 4 in best ongoing game... over Path of Exile? D4 is good for casuals... and the first playthrough... but if you want to keep coming back your best bet is POE for ARPGs.

The only game I have heard of for game of the year is Black Myth: Wukong. I guess I don't really keep up on modern games, probably because they cost more than I am willing to spend. I mostly play classics, indie games, or more expensive games that eventually get put into bundles like 5 years after they are released.

Just like Oscars these awards are meaningful only to the industry, and nobody else. I'm not surprised by any of the nominations, except maybe the fact that the new fake Dragon Age wasn't nominated for GOTY and Best RPG. After all IGN gave it 9/10, and every corporate outlet praised the game as a "return to form for Bioware." Unless they were being ironic, and meant return to the level of ME Andromeda.

Best ongoing game, Helldivers 2? The game isn't even 1 year old, how would that even qualify. Even D4 is a bit too new imho.

I don't think it would deserve a GOTY nomination either. I consider this game a mispurchase since the matchmaking bugs makes the game a pain in the ass to play. Best ongoing game should've been Deep Rock Galactic, and it bugs me that it isn't nominated.

GOTY should've gone to Pacific Drive imho. Most anticipated for me is MH:Wilds. And best mobile game is imho Balatro.

Otherwise pretty disappointing choices in most categories.

shadow of the erdtree shouldnt have been nominated for goty, a seperate category for expansion/dlc of the year would be better. in its place should have been silent hill 2.

oh, Elden Ring DLC that I so far predicted to be nominated at least (checks out) and likely win because From Software needs to be praised from the soulless press as well.

Also mandatory, because this is a press event where the industry awards itself in a way that they hope will help to sell more of the same, or push the envelope further in the future. They aren't your friends.

I don't like public voting, I prefer Bafta game awards.

I don't particularly care for blockbusters, but the "Games for impact" category looks pretty amazing, it even includes my GOTY, a rather obscure Russian masterpiece Indika (or maybe it's not as obscure as I thought, and that's pretty awesome).

GOTY looks OK to me. I'd just swap Wukong for Silent Hill 2.

Well my PC is old, so I have never played or even watched any of the games nominated, lol.

The only category that I know would be Best Adaptation. Absolutely loves Arcane and Fallout (I hope Arcane wins), Knuckles is alright? (did not finish the series), and Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is horrible.

yet another proof that all these "awards" shows are a complete joke. how can you genuinely compare astrobot and (albeit an amazing indie game) balatro to masterpiece like wukong? and how on earth is a DLC allowed to be nominated for GOTY?

Finally took the time to look through them and throw (meaningless) votes, and I'm just more aware how out of the gaming loop I am. I barely recognized majority of the nominees, and recent gaming is looking really bleak if a DLC gets nominated for GOTY... However I am at least positively surprised they didn't manage to somehow shoehorn in TLOU 2 Remaster, like I was expecting them to.
PS. It's little bit hilarious that the category I'm most "invested" in is VR. :D
