So this visual novel is slightly different in two ways from the others I have recommended so far.
One point is it includes a sort of point&click gameplay. Most of the time it's fairly obvious where you have to click(and there's a walkthrough if you can't find it). The other thing that makes it different is the amount of endings. While previous visual novels wanted to tell you a single story, this one really wants you to explore the other possible endings. Although each playthrough was short, this vn makes you want to retry each time you reach the end.
I don't feel like there are any very strong or very weak sides to this novel. Most of the endings are well done, except the true ending which annoyed me(Why didn't they stop me from going? Did I look that scary?),and the epilogue which raises more questions than answers. You can check out the original sleepless night which occurs at the same time this one for a bit more information, but I don't think we'll get any more answers unless sleepless night 3 is released.
The graphics were ok. They had places where they were less impressive(hiding behind that table) or very impressive(those eyes are starting at me..),but it was overall a well done job.

Heh, finally found some time for this one. :p
Hmm, have to say I wasn't particularly impressed by it. But then again, I'm not really a fan of horror. I have to agree with Sinetry on some points, like the ridiculous decisions made by the characters. I had a lot of "WTF, what is wrong with you?!" moments, which would be okay for a comedy.
After mostly getting bad endings, I just went and cheated my way to the correct routes. >_< So yeah, haven't really completed the whole game. Art was acceptable I guess, sounds were (interesting?). Overall it was really odd for me. What's with those cups of tea?
In the end, well, I guess I preferred the previous ones. Didn't dislike this one, but, I don't know, I didn't get hooked into it too much. It was a different experience, though, so I guess that's something. Thanks. :)

In regards to your 5 bullet points about future VN posts. I don't know about most users on SG, but I only read Japanese VN's, and not indie western ones. Normally I open your thread, scan it and see "ren'py" or whatever and then just close the tab. I am not sure if I am alone in that, I believe the Japanese VN's are the primary market.
So, I guess my suggestion of you continue with spotlights, would be one of those.

I (at least think I) know why you avoid western novels. I don't want to make a long comment,so I'll just say this: When digging through piles of visual novels I was bound to find gems and trash that hurts to look at. The novels I feature in my spotlights may not be worldwide-recognized visual novels, but they are of adequate quality. It is wrong to judge a game merely by the country it comes from. Give it a try?

I'm really enjoying your spotlight. I would never search and read such "indie" VNs on my own but your weekly events with following puzzles are lots of fun. Suggested novels so far were reasonably short and could be finished in one evening (I dragged out Sepia Tears for almost a week though, but it's because of writing, not actual content).
I understand that these topics doesn't look like they're worth the effort - not much people commenting - but I'll be glad if you continue posting them. Maybe you should do irregular updates instead of forcing yourself into weekly schedule? I'll prefer this if you could keep up the quality level of novels in spotlight. It looks like you are running out of worthwhile free VNs already and I'll take quality over quantity anytime.

if you haven't see my comment in the giveaway then most likely you don't get it.
Of all the VNs I played a year or 2 ago... to be more specific, 2 years ago since my old PC died then. I can only remember 1 VN, problem is, I don't remember the title.
It's made by using RPGMaker, I don't remember which but I remember that it uses RPGMaker.
I can remember this line only "You are forever an A to me."
Now then, to the VN that I recently played is Moonlight on the Android. I heard there should be a PC version (because I knew it through the game.)

Can't really find anything about the first one. For the second, perhaps you mean
Moonlight walks?

Hi,
enjoyed the Nanolife VN, but have a problem with Q5... a little hint?
Before I discovered your first thread with VN, I think the last one thing you could call a VN I read was Portal on C64 (and I think noone here knows this)... I don´t like much reading on a monitor, I prefer real books ;)

Roughly estimated at about 40 minutes for a below-average reading speed. It's going to take a bit more than that since this is a visual novel and not a book, and really depends on how many endings you want to get and how much time you spend considering what to do.

So I started watching Silent Night Deadly Night 2. Then I realized I was doing something wrong and played Sleepless Night 2: Ladies’ Night.
I should have keep watching the movie.
Story is full of worst horror cliches and idiotic plots. Some weird stuff happening in the house; what do our girls do? Split up to investigate, of course! One girl is too scared to run away and sends you out to find a safe way out despite hiding right next to the kitchen exit. Other girl sends you away and says that she's going to sleep right after she witnessed some supernatural events and everyone else gone missing. And "horror" itself is nothing but cheap jump scares.
Writing is bad as well and none of endings make any sense. Bad ends ranges from "everyone died", to "I escaped but everyone else disappeared and I cannot sleep at night anymore" to "police arrested me for killing others and I got life sentence" (with what evidence?) to "we called police and they arrested two girls for trespassing" (how horrible!).
Graphics are not that bad, but "dead bodies" are made by just cropping ordinary "standing" sprite and putting it horizontally on the scene. Looks absolutely laughable.
Worst novel in the spotlight so far.

There's bound to be a worst and a best.
I understand your point of view, but I think you're too harsh. It may not do everything correct, but it did some, and it deserves credit for at least that. Take, for example, the ending where you get stuck in a picture. It was done before, but not in your average supernatural monster horror, and it could be built into another story,a real alternate ending with a different explanation. What I'm trying to say is that this visual novel is different because it doesn't try to be what a traditional visual novel is. It doesn't want you to read a story,it wants to give you a brief look on what you can do with a horror story and the visual novel format; hence the cliches. The amount of choices you make is large compared to the text, and it really felt like every choice had impact. I was personally impressed because something like this is something I've never seen in a visual novel before, and I suggested it because I wanted people to see that things like this are possible to do. I now understand that may not have been the brightest idea to suggest this,as people probably come here to be impressed by stories and not by unique plot advancing methods. It'll take some more responses for me to establish this opinion, but I predict you're right and more people will say this is the worst visual novel yet. I do hope that at least some people will see what I found in it,though.
I'll take point that I should ask myself why exactly did I like a specific visual novel, and could other people like it for the same reason. I'll also try to make it up with a horror vn next week that is more focused on actual story.

Yes, I was too harsh, sorry.
I think it's because I personally already played an awesome VN that have point and click gameplay, multiple branching points and people dying. It was Virtue's Last Reward. But there's no point in comparing a game developed by experienced specialists and something made by a single person in his spare time. For an amateur work Sleepless Night 2 is not bad and I appreciate the effort put into accounting for 24 different endings.
I look forward to read the next novel from your spotlight.

bump for solved. i'm not sure choices effected the story and routes but it was fun not to just blind-click. thanks xKomachi. i wonder what does that mean. O.o

You can find a walkthrough to see what choices lead to what ending here. If you wonder about my name,Komachi is inspired from Touhou's Komachi Onozuka,a death god charged with moving the dead so that they may receive judgement. I find her personality to be somewhat similar to mine.

Did you enjoy week three? Here's your giveaway! 0 CV,one week.
With this spotlight I mark end I originally planned for the series. So far, people seem to be mostly enjoying those spotlights; this is an incentive for me to continue. However, there are a few points I'd to discuss before I decide the fate of future spotlights:
Starting this week,my schedule will become more intensive. This means I will have less time to reply to comments and bump the thread. Inevitably, this will lead to less comments, even less bumps, and eventually a visual novel I suggest may only be read by 2 people before being buried deep with other long forgotten threads. I'll need more people to comment to prevent this from happening.
Also, this will mean I will have less time to read new visual novels, make puzzles, write the actual threads, and so forth. Although if this keeps going I will try to keep it the same level, you may see a decrease in the quality of some aspects of future spotlights,be it a delay in posting them, unclean editing, inability to provide a word count or stuff regarding the quality of the actual novel.
Not enough people post their reviews about the visual novel. This makes it hard for me to decide what you would like to see in future spotlights. A comment saying, for example,"It really annoyed me how long the story took to reveal, but it was worth it at the end" will make me less likely to suggest vns with slow pace and more likely to suggest those with a strong ending.
While I mostly create puzzles for the sake of having people solve the puzzles,I also like having the puzzle solved worth it(this is sg after all). As sad as it may seem, cash does not fall on my head each time I breath; Unless someone would be willing to sponsor the next puzzles,I will be forced to giveaway games that more of you already own and eventually cease doing puzzles.
If anyone has a free visual novel that he,she or it wishes to suggest, now is a good time.
