I think it's fair to only deliver a key to winners with questionable history (i.e. not activating / re-gifting) after they clean their history by finding alternative ways to get the keys they somehow lost, and activating the games. Your thoughts?

Here, have a giveaway. And if you have some un-activated games, maybe take care of them before joining? :-)

Should people who don't activate their games get new keys they win?

No, if they don't have the keys (e.g. if they regifted them), they should buy new keys (or trade for them) before getting any new giveaways keys
Yes, I don't mind. I'll deliver the key a user wins. If he/she decides not to activate, it's their business.

I thing the suspend time should scale.

  • 1 non activated = 5 days.
  • 2 = 10.
  • 3 = 20.
  • 4 = 40.

Something like that. And/or maybe a limit of non activated games. Once reached it, they should be suspended indefinitely UNTIL the number of non-activated games is below that line again (but still being suspended for the time of the remaining not activated games).

So disappointed. I was hoping your suggestion was going to involve keelhauling. No one ever wants to keelhaul anyone anymore. Great now I'm depressed. Thanks.

The rate of "repeat offenders" once they've been suspended for not activating the first time is actually quite low. It's usually a case of not knowing it's a rule of the site and afterwards, they activate all their wins.

The problem is that because of the 38,000 user report tickets and no automated system for checking activations, it's near impossible to catch users after their first offense, and they often have 3-4 non-activations before being suspended for the first time and finally understanding the rules here.

But again, once these users have been suspended, they're typically "reformed" and don't re-offend. I don't have any problem delivering gifts to these people. As mentioned earlier, a second offense gets a much longer suspension and a third is permanent.

There are some small problems with your proposal. There are many reasons why someone may not be able to get a copy of an old won game in order to continue using the site. Region restrictions, games no longer on the store, financial resources, etc. You're essentially permanently banning them from the site, which is not what we would do for a first offense.

As one of those "reformed offenders," thank you for this.

well, honestly, i haven't read the other post. they are too long, maybe later
so if you ignore mine, i'll understand...

here is what i think: no. just no. he got banned for a week, he can still carry one. after a while of not activating a lot of games he will get permabanned. but once twice even thrice, i'm fine.
i got one winner who had more than 20 wins not activated. he was permabanned after i reported him. but most are not like that

You're much too nice. I think it's about time to apply more pressure on them. The site is way too soft on such people.

If that link got you a 404, I now switched from Snurl to Tiny. Tiny seems to be more reliable.

I'm sure there are more account and they mainly set their steam account to private. If you found them, do not gift to them and report them or even post here so that we can mass report them.....

If you're going to take a suspension for calling out, at least get it right... one of these users has a private profile so it's normal for SGTools to show as non-activated. All his wins are activated.
