In short, they've all been the same price (improving value of the Euro against the Pound aside) except for the 2015 Easter Box, which was a touch cheaper.

Actually, think "Life is Strange 2015 HBSE 3" should read "Life is Strange 2015 HBSE 3 (Ep 1)". :)
Definitely a lot easier comparing version-bundling in your table than in my straight list. :)
Though a bit interesting that you gave Sleeping Dogs-DE its own table row, and the other GOTY/Master/Elite editions only got referenced in the bundle columns. :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks! Corrected the Ep 1 bit.
Sleeping Dogs gets two rows since they're two different Steam library entries. As far as I know, for all the others, they're still the same base app ID. Almost had to split up DX:HR/DX:HR - DC too, but... apparently the original release wasn't in any of these bundles! (i.e. There was a reason! :D)

A remastered version, subtitled Definitive Edition, was released in October 2014 for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It features improved gameplay, setting and audiovisual quality based on community feedback
Well, yep- with exclusive components to the base game+DLCs, it does count as a different game for SG purposes, so that's a very reasonable basis for listing them separately. :)
I yield to your masterful handling of the matter. ^.^

And this is why I bought the Eidos Anthology during the Steam Winter Sale 2015, and got almost all of that (and more) for a mere $35.

feeling good today, so im grabbing one. either we are lucky and get something rly great or we get some repeats, which is fine for me honestly since i dont rly own any square enix games on steam (besides life is strange i guess), most of their games are great and im fine with ever i get :^)

Can you share the UK link please? When I click on the UK flag, it just returns to the home page and I can't seem to find the offer.

Are the keys from Square Enix usually region-locked? In other words, can you purchase the EU version and activate the games in NA or vice versa?
Comment has been collapsed.
I haven't heard of them being region locked (other than perhaps Final Fantasy Online not being available in all regions), and the early ones weren't (afaik) available for direct purchase from the states, but were (afaik) put up on SG without issue.
Here are the previous threads on SG that I found:
Easter Surprise 2015
Holiday Surprise 2015
Easter Surprise 2016

Games will be revealed after the sale is finished. Own a few SE games, so won't take the bait for probably repeats.

It's not what I mean. I do understand taxes. Yet, take a look at steam store or other stores. In NA there is lats say a price of 10$ but the same product in the same store is 10Euro. And the difference is not the taxes but 1 to 1 USD to Euro exchange rate!
Comment has been collapsed.
but I hate these bloody yanks who rip us
It's generally the publishers that set adjusted rates, not any distributor or the like.
And yes, some publishers intentionally charge extra in regions where they feel luxury goods can be charged more for, and reduce price in regions where they feel luxury goods are less easy to justify purchasing. That's the very reason why RU/CIS can offer a better purchasing cost than other regions, and the bundle list on SG bases off 95% in [any region].
Think of it like you being a kid throwing up a bake sale. If you're selling it on the street, you'll set a base price. You may up that price if you sell it at your local community organization (knowing that people'd feel more obligated to pay extra), and you'd drop the price if selling to your peers, since kids generally don't have a lot of funds to spend.
Whether it's right or wrong, it's capitalism, and publishers make the most of it.
In other words, you can't blame "yanks", since publishers in any region do it.
Whether it's a US publisher charging extra in EU, or an EU publisher charging less in the States, it's all the same principle.

But right now we're getting things much cheaper at 1 USD = 1 EUR. When a Euro was $1.34 USD or so years ago, this was different. Right now we profit. A lot.
The USD = EUR price already includes VAT, have to keep that in mind. The USD price doesn't include anything like that.
Comment has been collapsed.
In case you but and don't like what you get, you can refund if you are from EU.
But if you are from US you can't "*Please note: All orders on the Square Enix Holiday Box 2016 are FINAL and refunds or exchanges are not possible with this order. " so beware, you pay more and with no possibility to refund.
But last year box was very good, things is about Square Enix, most of their games have been in bundles and previous packs, so lots of ppl might have practically everything from them, except newest games, and they will obviously not include them, so idk what to good to expect, something like Life is Strange Complete, if that will satisfy ppl, considering all previous deals.
Comment has been collapsed.
Do you know if the refund policy is the same in the UK?
Comment has been collapsed.
On the EU site, I don't see any red text or any info about being able to refund it.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's the thing, it's because you can refund by EU laws. Obviously they won't openly tell it. Many ppl asked for refunds previously I remember, and got it, that's why they included red text in US store, since by US laws refund is not possible.

As a logical guess, HITMAN but only episode 1 and the prologue, like they did with Life Is Strange. I think you are guaranteed a Final Fantasy game, at a guess it'll be one of the 13's. As the "big" game I'd hazard a guess at Just Cause 3(going off Just Cause 2 being in there before and similar priced big games going in before). Hitman GO/Lara Croft GO would be another guess.
Overall it's definitely going to be worth it for me, even just to give as gifts or make giveaways. Although I'll cling on to my wild dreams of Dragon Quest or something ridiculous being in there.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, Just Cause 3 would actually make it worth it for me. Not really sure if I believe in your theory though. Pretty sure we're gonna see Hitman's Episode 1 (they love to give that kinda stuff that'l probably be free next year this time around), and most probably the lasst missing FF XIII title (which would not be a selling point for me, since I won it a while ago). This still leaves room for more, and I doubt they'll fill it up with some of that ancient stuff. Question is: what else then? Thief just once more? Their catalogue isn't that tempting anymore...
My wild dream would be The Touring Test I guess :3
Comment has been collapsed.
I highly doubt any new titles since it says 7 games will be included at a value of over $80. That likely means the current total retail value of all game will be between $80-$90, which isn't even a $20 retail for each title, so... Def going to be older stuff (likely repeats), with a few crappy titles prob.
Comment has been collapsed.
Buy random games? No, thank you very much, but I want to know what I'm buying. xD
Comment has been collapsed.
So, 7 games worth over £55 / $80 / €70 (according to gegeru's comment, the site only displays the £ value for the box when I check it).
That's €10 per game. Don't think it will be much over the amounts stated, it wasn't previous years (I would be surprised if "over €70" would turn out to be €100)
Just sort by price and check what an average of €10 per game would get you:
https://store.eu.square-enix.com/eu/pc-download
Here for NA:
https://store.na.square-enix.com/pc-download
€10 average doesn't leave a lot of room for €20/30 games, so my guess?
The first episode of the new Hitman game
One Final Fantasy game
The rest cheaper/previously featured in bundles
Comment has been collapsed.
My guess is similar.
One 20~25€ game that can be... FFX/X-2, I am Setsuna (the game did not have much success, so they might try to shove it down our throats now), or Project Turing .
I hope they add one of the FF games (excluding XIII and XIV), both were already present in prior gift boxes.
Hitman new game 1st episode + some 20% discount to purchase the rest of the game.
Then... 3-4 games with a price around 10€
Maybe a 20% voucher for Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmm ... what do you guys think? Is there even a chance I might get something that I actually play?
I'm not really interested in Final Fantasy, I already have all the Tomb Raiders, Hitman Absolution, Deus:HR and all episodes of "Life is Strange". I kinda doubt it'll contain "Mankind Divided" or the latest Hitman. It would be totally worth it, if it contained "The Turing Test". Otherwise it'sprobably good for giveaways ... I browsed over their catalog real quick, it's not like there's anything really terrible.
Comment has been collapsed.
They already had a lot of FF, for the Easter box, so probably only one this time.
Even though I'm not really interested in FF, it wouldn't be a total loss if there is
something else that's decent. My problem really is that, I already own pretty much
all the good stuff (from my perspective).
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmm that Hitman pack wouldn't be the worst thing. Considering I haven't even played Absolution yet,
it would give me an idea if I want that game or not. By the the time I get to play it and if I should like it,
it's probably cheap enough to stock on the rest. The Hitman pack is €13, so in order to beat €70 (as they
claim) that would leave room for one or two more expensive things.
Comment has been collapsed.
I have the same games as you, plus FFXIV.
I am hoping for one more FF (not FFXIII please), even FF0 would be great.
My guesses are:
Hitman prologue + Episode 1 (plus a nice 20% discount voucher.)
Some 3- 4 lesser games.
And then they can either go with:
Life is Strange (all episodes).
or
I am Setsuna (Yeah, it's pretty new, but the game had no success at all, they might try to sell it this way... The price is already down to 26€.
or
Turing project (Yeah, fairly new, but the price is 20 something, so, why not...)
That's how I see it.
Comment has been collapsed.
the idiots at SQUARE-ENIX love to put stuff from past bundles in, as well as add episodic/intro demo content and count them as games
so my guess is life is strange episode 1, hitman episode 1, an old FF game, legacy of kain, posibly dungeon siege 3
doubt they will put i am setsuna or deus ex human revolution in
I am super sure they won't put Rise of the Tomb Raider or Just Cause 3 in
think I'll pass but the price is tempting...
if I get it I will hope for rise of the tomb raider and lots of crappy games
Comment has been collapsed.
They will not add ROTTR or JC3, however, a 15-25% discount voucher for those is likely to happen.
Then the box will probably contain:
A FF title.
Hitman episode 1
Life is Strange (all episodes)
1 or two more games. around 10€ each or one of 20€
Worth it for 6,49€... (And I already own most of SE games, but I will gift some to my friends, or trade them.)
Comment has been collapsed.
I was just listing games I thought in there that I own :3
I'm struggling past that though to see what they'd include? Unless its incredible and they throw Rise of the Tomb Raider, Dragon Quest etc in there which I can't see them doing.
EDIT: At a push to make up my own bundle, I'd add an extra FF title, a Lara Croft title(probably Lara Croft GO or Hitman GO) and an old title I'm not aware about being on steam. It's totally worth buying, I have bought it, but I'm going to guess I'll get nothing new for it just gifts for friends at Christmas time which is solid on its own.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ok, don't have access to the £ prices, the store gives me the € ones, but the ratio should be about the same:
HITMAN: Intro Pack: €13
Life Is Strange Complete €20
Final Fantasy <XIV> (I chose the cheapest one, plus it was featured previously, they're maybe reusing it, who knows?) €10
Just Cause 3 €50
You still need three more games to get to the seven that will be included, but let's say it's Urban Chaos, Startopia and Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen II, €4.50 each (cheapest ones I found)
That would bring the total to just over €106. Advertised value: "Over €70/£55". If they would include those games, I bet they would have advertised it as "games worth over €100" and not €70. Don't think it's likely with Just Cause 3, maybe not Life is Strange either. :( Hitman intro pack and one Final Fantasy game can fit in the budget though.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, honestly, I didn't realise I was going to be put to task so much over the suggestions! :P I was literally throwing things out there that I thought of. I didn't put a great deal of thought behind it! But you are totally right, there is no way that pricing works for the advertised bundle at all.
Hitman is a definite for me, its not a huge discount for them whilst providing a chance at future sales.
Final Fantasy is a definite, its a mainstay of Squeenix and has been in every bundle so far?
Hitman GO/Lara Croft GO is a definite, they love putting in a puzzle £6.99 priced game in these bundles, usually Lara Croft GOL or Osiris, but this time throw in their new puzzler or an old one.
Deus Ex the Fall repeat? Maybe? They like giving love to all their major titles, so Deus Ex, will probably get a look in.
I honestly, think Just Cause has a place in there, its been long enough now and they bundled it with Tomb Raider a few times, I know I picked it up for around £24.99 in the sale for the double pack, or something pretty decently priced. So the only way that will work is a price change within the next week, which seems unlikely just before a huge sale. I also can't see them lumping Just Cause 2 in there again, seems pointless.
Urban Chaos though....what a game that was back in the day! Thanks for mentioning that!
Final thought, they love spreading the love between their major titles, they rarely sandbag one title into things. So I'd say we have a chance(pretty much nailed on) at an even split of their MAJOR titles, so 1 or 2 of each....Lara Croft/Tomb Raider games, HITMAN games, Final Fantasy Games, Deus Ex games...then 1 or 2 additional wildcard titles.
