I've just newly discovered this website and have already got a taste of doing giveaways and winning. It's also pretty amazing how everyday the dash is filled with new giveaways. I like the site because I know I can do giveaways of games I enjoy and because most users have the mentality of "who cares what game it is as long as it's free" so they will wind up entering into the poll regardless, if they had much interest in the game and I get a chance of spreading my favorite games to others

But it got me thinking what do users on here really want to see on the main dash? What games do you guys want to play and wouldn't mind winning for free on here? Maybe this discussion will give users a general ideal of what to bring onto the site

Anything that's not Bundle Trash.
It seems a lot of people are misunderstanding this.

I'm referring to games that include lots of achievements that are only used for making a profile look better,
games that are idled just for the cards they have, and games people only want just for a +1.

There are a lot of really good games that have made it onto the "Bundled" games list.
Such as the Portal series, Project Cars, Owlboy, Stardew Valley, etc.

Really? I'll make sure to keep that in mind for future giveaways lol

Well it's really easy to tell. If you wouldn't play it, you really shouldn't give it away.
I was stupid enough to buy one of the boxes from GMG and ended up with 93.3% bundle trash.
At the price I paid I could have easily given away a copy of Fallout 4.

You are not being fair and a little demanding.
There are great bundles. And just because I wouldn't play a game doesn't mean someone else doesn't want it.
I hate RPG and give them all away. Doesn't mean they are trash.
I have won a lot of games I wanted here. Games that were bundled.

The question isn't, "are bundle games good?"

I am indeed referring to the latter, which also includes
"games people only play because they include lots of achievements to make your profile pretty"
Lyne, Zup, Tracks of Triumph, etc.

I thought Lyne as a game was fun, but it depends if you like the minimalistic puzzle games.

But it's always a matter of taste. I do not own Tracks of Triumph. Doesn't look my kind of game. And I don't buy everything that is cheap or easy to finish. But I love puzzle games and enjoyed all 6 Zup and Lyne very much.
Just because Zup has a lot of achievements doesn't mean it's a bad game. Achievements aside, Zup games are clever and fun and very entertaining. The Dev did make the mistake to add all those achievements and now because of that we have shitty devs doing the same thing with shitty games [I agree that has become sort of a problem] and we also people like you judging all these games and putting them all in the same category.

No but almost everything I would play (it's pretty high quality, it just doesn't interest me)
Earthlock I really want a copy of, but it hasn't seen a nice sale in a while.

Well, steam gifting is restricted, so that's the only thing we'll see. xD BUT, there are some really good bundled games.

I highly recommend hiding those shitty games. After ~7k games hidden, my first page looks decent.

I am hiding a lot of them, but I also have to thoroughly review the Steam store.

Why does it matter?

I understand your point of view, but I don't see why we just shouldn't giveaway bundled trash. I do. I give it away and often say "this is bundled trash, if you win it feel free to idle/just add it to your games collection for the heck of +1, because I won't expect you to play it" in the description.

It doesn't really matter, but it should. If you somehow acquire them when you're trying to get other stuff (BundleStars Pick & Mix, GMG's Loot Boxes, etc) then give them away. But if you're intentionally buying trash to give away, don't.

That's the easiest way I can explain my thought process.

Makes sense I guess. Regardless, I don't mind what others give away (I rarely enter giveaways anyway) and I don't really care what others think of what I giveaway (because I'm kind of a stubborn asshole, really), so I'm more often than not, not affected by any of this, heh. :P

Personally, just find me some hidden gems, something unique or charming, you name it! :) I love it when somebody's convincing me to try a game I didn't know has existed :) I'd like to see games that are rare on SG more than GTA V for instance. Examples: Xenonauts, OneShot, Football Tactics (sport games are generally rare here), CrossCode, The Guild II: Renaissance, Passpartout: The Starving Artist, Beat Cop etc.

Wish there were more software sometimes too, but probably it's just me :P

I find that in general people don't create ga's for VN's that much. Also steam has some great puzzle games, like Flood Of Light. Those are great.

playable games, aka:
not bundle trash; not idling games; not 20-cent games

but don't call them bundle trash, people get offended by it. 👌

You're back!.....Again! "Mr. Anderson, welcome back, we missed you"
Who cares if they get offended by the words "Bundle Trash". Those games really are bad, and shouldn't even be purchased by anyone.

I like to see GA's for games I haven't heard about basically +1 for hidden gems
honestly I hide anything that doesn't have a positive rateing...I see GA's for games with 1-17% negative reviews and I really wonder if any of the people entering them even want the game. basically +1 for no bundle trash
so long story short I have no unique opinion and bring nothing of value to the thread

For me its less about genre or kind; Truth is all genres and kinds appear on SG. Some more then others thats for sure (like our friend mentioning visual novels above).
Its also kinda of a vague question- because it will vary as much as tastes and im sure theres all kinds of them here (i for one dislike visual novels).

What i like most to see on SG thats rare is when people are giving away games they own, like and recommend; Even better when the person says it like so. Whenever i giveaway i game i enjoy i write something... when its a game i love i write a lot.

Its only sad many users and as many or more bots enter giveaways regardless of content; Like you said if its free... even more so if the game have cards so they enter for the cards alone (that you can trade or sell).

Games that enjoy that are popular- broad audience- and the ones that i don't like but hopefully someone will are the ones i giveaway publicly.

Games that i strongly recommend or love but are niche or that i see little gas of (and are good) i end up making then group giveaways or private (by invite only). Well at least i intend to- i still have to try doing private and making a topic inviting people. When i was about to i got into the Playing Appreciated group and it changed the way i giveaway games (its a group where people can only enter games they want and will play withing a month).

Its a bit sad seeing many giveaways of games no one wants but on my view thats a inevitable side effect of the true problem- a flood of bad and fake games on the market and in bundles. Its almost unanimous opnion here that people would like seeing less of those - like Koitenshin vented on the first answer.

I on the other hand don't mind and even find it good: truth is theres many games no one likes that come bundled and i wouldn't expect people to want and play then so if someone is looking to increase his library (i personally hate games i don't like on mine but to each his own), stats like achievements or just grab the cards with those i don't mind- its even better so at least someone found a use for it...
...its also good that my judgment wheter a game is good, bad or 'fake' doesn't matter. If it is a good game i failed to notice even better.

TcgIdol id say: 'giveaway what you feel would be nice or that you would like to win.
But don't ever overthink about it.

These are the most wishlisted games but I don't know exactly how that represents the site's preferences (I don't care for most of these, but I have weird tastes). If you want to give to people who are interested in playing the game instead of just getting a +1 to their library or cards to sell, you probably need to make them private and advertise them in the forums or join groups like how it's done there. As to which genres, once again the kind of games I like aren't exactly popular so my opinion on the matter isn't worth much, but as you did GAs for a Sono Hanabira game, you're fine by my book :D

It makes me happy they're a few people on here that do enjoy playing visual novel and would like a small increase in those on here. My laptop can't handle the more high end games like Nier, DMC, Sims, etc etc. So the way I see it if the game has a console release I'll get that instead. On here though there's a chance I could get those games for free on pc ( I do plan on buying a better computer later on) I'll just have em sitting in my library till than

I have my account set up to where I can't see giveaways that are higher than my level so I don't have a general idea of what's currently being given away. My steam library is just filled with nothing but visual novels at least with this site I can have more of a variety.

Thank you for those who responded and gave your honest opinion and own unique standards of what you giveaway.

I'm still interested in hearing other people's opinion so do reply.

Just give away what you think is fun and what you can. No need to please anybody in here. About the bundle trash, I know a streamer that likes to play terrible games just for the laugh. I'm pretty sure some people do the same cause they find It therapeutic. About the bots...no comments.
