Hey,

It has been a while since I've done one of theses, but I think it's time.

What's one game you wish you have played sooner? Maybe when it launched. Why did you feel that way?

The original trilogy S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. I recently just beat the first game for the first time, but I couldn't get into the sequels. Part 2 is hard as hell and Part 3 is this big open map that I wish I found earlier. I don't have the capacity to play them, so I wish I had played them soon.

With all the mods, the first game would be wild to play all the additional missions, content, and maps. There is a mod that combines all three game maps into one big map. Real wild stuff I should have discovered sooner.

That's a series I'd like to get myself into. the sequel is waiting for me, but because I am the type that needs to play first the old ones, I coudln't make myself get into them yet.

I'm like that myself, except that when I realize I'm never gonna play or complete the first one, then I will skip to the next. I can't think of a time I've regretted doing this. Even if I do end up going back to the first one after a later game draws me in, I wouldn't have experienced the earlier game if not for the later one.

I've only done it once, for StarCraft. I watched the entire story via YouTube to get in it. Some gsme series I can if the story is not interconnected or it's more focused on gameplay.

Detroit: Become Human
Definitely. I know I've had it lined up a couple of times but I dodged it again and again. And then I played it and I was mindblown and in love and everything. Can only recommend!
My all time favs... I totally played at the right time :3

Currently... I wish I already had made time for My Time at Sandrock. Twice I had it installed now... still haven't touched it tho D:

I totally agree on Detroit! I can say it's one of the coolest decision based games I've played and I've played a few of that nature. I did play it on my PS4. I got it on PC and is waiting for me to come back and complete it and experience the other endings.

I tried my way into My Time at Portia. I am not the target audience for this genre, but my wife loved it. I'm still pushing myself to get back to complete it. I have it installed still. Won it via Steamgifts.

Discovering all the endings was interesting :3

I honestly would have liked it better if there wasn't any fighting involved. I honestly don't get why a lot of farming/building games have to have battle. Like let me just play this game in peace pls? That's plenty already. But nooooo: Go to the mine. Kill enemies!

I think it's to keep somewhat of a balance. Just farming can get repetitive and at some point boring. The sequel does a better job at the combat.

Kingdom Come Delivrance. It is so much better than Skyrim! I was not expecting such a great open world RPG. Great story, Awesome gameplay. Surprising and fun minigames. Great activities. It is a match to GTA and Witcher. Thanks Epic Games for the free giveaway. ;)

Oh yeah, they are in different leagues. If you could add magic, you'd have a more immersive experience than in Skyrim. Now, granted, mods make Skyrim an excellent game. I do prefer the story of Kingdom Come Deliverance. It holds up well even today.

Factorio for sure, that game has the formula for something I love, but I don't want to spend on it right now because I have a backlog of recently purchased games. Also, the price went WAY UP since launch, a bit higher than double. I've only played it once on a friend's PC, never again lmao.

Dev used to sell the game on their site, which included a Steam key and DRM-free version too. It was an option to keep the DRM-free and sell the steam key to somebody(or buying sith a friend and sharing ths DRM-free verion), essentially halving the price. I don't know it's still doable, but it still may be a valid way to reduce the price.

I played Fable 1 and loved it a lot! I grew up with it. I wish I had access to Fable 2, as that was one that I really wanted because you had a dog as companion. Fable 3 didn't hit home for me. I was disappointed as I expected they would improve on the story. They didn't. I don't own a copy sadly. I would have bought it.

Oh yeah you had to for the achievements as you couldnt own all the equipment yourself. It shows you if did one of those final choices with someone as it puts both players statues up. You could become business partners so you could help buy property that otherwise mightve not gotten cuz of different choices. Alot of pro and cons but since we played together from the start it was always my money is her money, so no one was hurting the other by spending money that gets split

Factorio. I've considered writing my complaints to the creators on their Steam or Reddit page in the past, but I've seen others with similar complaints get massively attacked. So I'll refrain from writing my reasons here.
A friend gave it to me a year ago and I haven't played it yet. I'm sure if I had it in the early days, I would have logged several thousand hours.

In general, I can't understand why they want to sell only to the wrong target group. It's like selling a coin purse made of rare animal skin with gold details and diamonds and signed by a world-famous influencer for millions. I don't see the logic behind it.

Good question, but in my opinion the difficulty is pretty much perfect, but yes it's hard. The good thing is how they handle death, it's very quick and restarts almost instantly, also the screens are small so the checkpoints are very frequent, so every screen you get across is a progress. Also the soundtrack is so good it gives determination and energy to keep trying.

Here's a pic of my first time finishing the game https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3281575536
1192 deaths, and i didn't feel any grind from it.

I only have some games that I didn't have a way I could have played them sooner (on a console I didn't have or bad pc). I suppose Silent Hill might stand out the most, because I think that might be the best horror game I've ever played for the actual horror and atmosphere.

I could say the same for a lot of consoles. I didn't have money or access to some great ones. Metal Gear is one I'm trying to get into.

Generally, I believe they all come into my life at the right times. I wouldn't be able to play/enjoy them otherwise because life always gets in the way. That, and I don't play time-sensitive (i.e. online multiplayer) games. I'm also quite the patient gamer, and try to not participate in discussions early on to avoid spoilers, so playing them sooner makes little difference.

But with all that said, if I have to name one or two, I think it'll probably be BG3 and Death Stranding.

I am still telling/lying to myself I'll get to the Baldur's Gate series before I get to the 3rd one. I know I'll enjoy it a lot.

Death Stranding on the other hand I did play in the same year or a year later after release. One of the weirdest, yet fascinating games I've ever played. I completed it and I'm to return to the directors cut to get the remaining achievements for it.

I wanted to do it like that too, but I just know it's gonna take me forever (basically never) so I said to myself I'll just play them backwards. You know, one day™! (Lying to myself as well.)

Assassin's Creed.

I'm currently playing the first one on GOG. I was well aware of this game back in the day but I kinda hate to buy games till they are properly discounted. Then I got it and it went straight ahead to my backlog. So far is a decent game, even if the controls and camera are not the best. I do know that I would have felt a lot more impressed playing it in that faithful year of 2008.

And yup, I have almost all the Assassin's Creed games waiting in my backlog, and several were properly discounted, they were for free. ;)

I love the series. I'm a big fan of it. I got all of them except Mirrage and upcoming Shadows. I played them at the respective time, up to AC 3, as that one my PC could not run. I had a AC marathon in 2020 and played all of them up to Origins, including it, and then took a break for a whole year for Odyssey. I agree that it might feel outdated, but still a very unique game. Glad you gave it a shot. ❤️

I'm finishing Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut on Steam.

All the Templars were killed.

Only some flags and a couple last missions missing.

Then I'll finish, write a review on Steam and play something else.

Maybe I'll play Ghost of Tsushima next and then eventually Rise of the Ronin later if find a giveaway for it or actually bite the bullet and try to buy it myself.

Tomorrow's my 34th birthday 🎂

So yeah, it would be nice 🙂

But yeah, at the same time I think it might be a better move to play Ghost of Tsushima first and then maybe buy Rise of the Ronin closer to release date.

Money's tight, so yeah, better not make a bad move.

I'll definitely sleep on it.

That's it.

TOEM : what is this crap in black and white. But it was really good.
Book of hours : didn't like cultist simulator. But it was much better.
Old world : it will be a restrictive Civilization-like, why play that ? Hey it wasn't just that.

Actually Eiyuden chronicles : just a subpar suikoden-like. But it's still a suikoden, even subpar, and so much fun !!

Also i like so much this sort of threads you do, with original questions or original thinking.

You need to learn the trick :)
You need to predict some of the columns to find another column to fill. It will be easier after you do it several times. There are some bad ones that require you to guess the solution, but you shouldnt encounter it often in smaller sizes :)

I checked a tutorial, but I feel that I'm either stupid or too slow to get it. I rather do Crosswords or Sudoku.

It also took me a while, but now what I do is start with the lines or column with the biggest continuous numbers.

Like if the grid is 15x15, and one line or column only says 10, then you can straight away color in the middle FIVE boxes of that line/column, because however those 10 are gonna be situated, those middle five HAVE to be a part of it.

Hope that makes sense! Once I understood this, the whole thing unlocked for me.

(I know, specialists will say I'm a bit slow...)

Games I was years late to the party on:

  • Alien: Isolation
  • Subnautica

All of them are 10/10 masterpieces. Most I won on SG!
