There needs to be a point at which society denies itself to someone after extremely heinous crimes. Not everyone deserves to live, deserves to be a part of civic life.
No imprisonment, just removal.
This does not necessarily have to entail execution. It can be exile to a remote place removed from society.
But, with the lack of non-claimed territory on this planet, and the expense of setting up a prison colony on the moon, execution is a reasonable compromise.
This is not about punishment, not about deterring crime. Simply about keeping an orderly society. It is the same reasoning behind many countries offer sex criminals the option of chemical castration. You remove the elements which are undesirable.

Exactly , it' s not a good thing to say, but some people are just a threat to everybody, they WILL eventually do something bad no matter what , either by
ignorance, craziness or simply plain evil.

Death for death.
Must be 100% proven to have killed out of hateful intent, fun, etc...not some mistake.
That said I am gonna go out of the safe zone here and say if someone rapes someone we should keep a couple crazy rapist in a cell that rapes people who rape.
"Sup bra, heard ya like to rape, me to Unzips pants".
I guess I am more of an eye for an eye type of person...

Shoot first, ask questions later... it's the American way. Sure it's a lot easier, but it also makes you no better than them and any mistakes can't be corrected. It also means it able to be corrupted and used - I could get away with murdering two birds with one stone - just by framing one killing the other. He's dead by the judge at the end of the week and end of story, no one the wiser.

Well death penalty is more expensive than keeping someone in jail for their life...

From this thread...
So, for what crimes or actions there should be death penalty for? And are these actions/crimes ever justified?
This won't end well...
