In all seriousness, I don't mind links being posted like that. I don't mind referral links either as long as they are not obtrusive and force you to click on them, e.g. if you want to enter a giveaway you need to click on them. I wouldn't mind if SG had a referral links forum category either where they are allowed (and allowed there only), just because these usually give the clicker some benefit too and I usually go looking for them when I am to subscribe to a new service. Still, the gray area you discovered is quite cool, just hopefully some less cool people than you won't go on a quest exploiting that as mods will close that backdoor too. :)

i'm actually more pro steamgifts since i don't use custom filters to "avoid" rule-breakers.

I'm too lazy to report people knowing that there are like 100k user reports (and I have unresolved one from a year), and I'm also too lazy to truly evaluate the case and state whether I'm fine with SGT refs or not - I simply don't care enough.

To be fair in all these years I've never seen an abuse of this rule, but it's evident that it's not clear enough.
Personally I'm fine with people promoting their game, blog, channels, as long as they don't require some tasks.
I still think sgtool is ok, I would be happy if it gets whitelisted because... Well it's really useful, I'm not mad if his creator gains a few bucks
