I will never understand how ppl can pay that much for all these non joke simulator games about, trucks, tractors, ships, trains, cars, taxis, metro, planes, etc, okay watching some gameplay of some of them them in Youtube may be fun, for some time, but playing them...meh, very boring imo....to actually play truck simulator I will better open GTA or Saints Row, steal some random truck and simulate mass murder while driving it.
Okay, for example on this Truck Simulator, the truck control is very detailed, everything has better graphics and its much more detailed than let's say in GTA V, but I just don't see the fun, I need to kill, destroy, ruin things, etc.

I saw a lot of my friends playing ETS2 and at first I didn't understand the hype. I wasn't into simulators. But I tried the demo and fell in love with the game. I urge you to try the demo. If you don't like it, then no big deal.
As per the OP's question: I'm sure playing with a wheel is fantastic but for those of us without one, a mouse and keyboard is still fun. I suggest you use mouse steering instead of keyboard steering though.

ETS2 was also my first "proper" simulator on PC (not including Goat Simulator and Sims 3 which I barely played) and I was surprised at how much I enjoy it...I only started playing it in order to get the free paint job DLC they were offering through their site at the time (I think it was the Christmas paints?) but I very quickly started to really enjoy it, especially the option to import your own music for the in-game "radio"...I don't know, I guess there's just something Zen about it for me...and I've only EVER played with keyboard so yeah, it's possible

Well first of all you should be able to enjoy it with a keyboard / mouse setup :).
Now having me or other people tell you things may not actually work out for you as you may have hoped. Go to the Steam store website and download the demo and give it a spin :)
Besides that I am actually happy to play it with my ps3 controller :P

I use Motionjoy as driver and you can either use the default ds3tool to set up the connection or use betterds3.

I played it for some time with a keyboard but use a xbox 360 controller now. I also use head tracking software for looking around and Voice Attack for voice commands, I originally bought this for Elite Dangerous but it works just as well for ETS2.

You can see playing the demo that keyboard + mouse control is very well implemented.

Yes, you can play it quite well on keyboard but you will not have the immersion that you can have with a H shifter and wheel.

I can only say that it is an awesome experience with Wheel, blinking stuff, H Gate Shifter and stuff :)

I use mouse steering with my trackball, works pretty good. Never got keyboard steering in truck sims, it sucks.
The Going East expansion's nice too, gives more spread out cities and nicer country roads to travel on.

Mouse steering is actually quite good comparing to keyboard/controller steering.
I actually bought a steering wheel just for this game, though I bought an used old Logitech model because I didn't have a lot of money to spend on it, but it still good, and the game is even more enjoyable with it.

In the end, I've decided to buy ETS 2. I wanna say thank you everyone for your help and advices, I really appreciated.
PS: I found old wheel (only 180° :/ ), pedals dont work, but it seems thats still better than playing with keyboard/mouse.

I'm thinking about getting ETS 2, if I can enjoy it on keyboard. If so, I will probably go for East Expansion Bundle (7€) which looks like a good deal, right?
