Yes, it keeps track of your achievements, stats, and everything you've unlocked and completed. I used to own MCC on the Xbox One, got the Steam version when it came out, logged into the same Xbox Live account and everything was there just as I left it on the Xbox.

So Halo is currently free to play during the weekend and I am thinking of trying it but my question is how the whole account connection works.
By playing it on Steam do I have to connect my Xbox account or is it separate? If I have to do it and I end up buying it on the Xbox store would I have to start again because its Steam version vs Xbox version or would the save from the Steam version go over on to the Xbox version and I could freely resume on console from where I left on pc
