What about another way around? Add SMNC again to giveaway list, but for 1P worth. You will give chance to win this to ppl who don't want to wait so much, and if there will be 1P each there will be no so much points gianted per user. And ppl will not submit "fake" giveaways. Sry for bad english.

Reelix, I think you need to calm down, and go searching for a sense of humor. I've heard it's over by that thing over there.
Seriously though, If you honestly think I'm about to hop up from my bed here in Michigan, trek over to the Ukraine to find that kid that is submitting a game as something else and then proceed to massacre his family, then you've quite the imagination.

Sorry if it came across harsher than intended - To many chain-mails / Facebook spam with similar "repercussions" :p
It was more intended as a request for a slightly more specific reason - Maybe people with excessive points find it less of a hassle to enter here half-interested than register for a free copy, and wait several days? :p
Comment has been collapsed.
But here's the thing: people have excessive points because the SMNC betas are being submitted.

Excessive? Hardly. It's 1P per giveaway. Maybe 6-10 submitted per day, maybe a few more. At most, it would be 20P for everyone across the site, excluding the submitter of each of those giveaways. When they're removed, the points are also refunded.

Great, i got a SMNC invite today and wanted to make a giveaway -.-

That's because IT IS A FREE PASS, NOT A GAME.
If it goes on, it can destroy the site's economy.

I'm just wondering, when some others are annoyed ppl posting things they got for free that others can get for free, why allow all the King Arthur giveaways when ign is jst giving it away along with Hamiltons adventure? And then ppl get $30 give away credit.

What is with the whole "positive feedback deserving" thing? Is there a single thing that this feedback affects on this site? What kind of feedback are we talking about, just confirming that you are a legitimate gifter, or all the mindless "Thanks" posts? And if SMNC wasn't in demand, and therefore worth gifting, why are there nearly a thousand entries on the one remaining copy of a giveaway for it that's still open?
And as for the system inflation issue, the only problems that causes are A) an excess of SMNC entries, fixable with the Greasemonkey script posted on these forums; and B) a few more points than usual, which doesn't actually affect anything, because SMNC still gets about a thousand entries per post.
I will agree that SMNC shouldn't be posted here, but because the keys are plentiful, free, and still available from the manufacturer. Not for the reasons you're giving.

So, it's just confirming you're a legitimate gifter. I can't see how SMNC would adversely affect anything, except perhaps giving normally illegitimate gifters a slightly increased chance to scam people. And since scamming conveys no advantage, save to give the scammers slightly more points if they use an alternate account, at the expense of giving everyone else on Steamgifts the same increased points, feedback certainly is not the problem with SMNC. (Again, the problem is, it costs no money to get and is still available from the source.)

Yeah it gives everyone points, but if you read below, I basically say that I think the system is better if people have less points and have to choose which games they REALLY want that way gifters know whoever wins will most likely play the living hell out of the game. It's just MY opinion, and that's why I said thanks to the OP (and why I mentioned inflation).

...Are you suggesting we encourage "But I Might Need It Later!" among gamers? The people who fling peas at giant robot crabs on the off chance there's a bigger giant robot crab around the corner?
(I do get what you're saying, I just think that your issue is balanced out by the fact that letting people try out for games beyond what they REALLY REALLY want is a way to expose them to series/genres they wouldn't otherwise play.)

Feedback: There are groups that are limited to people who gift games. This game has a monetary value set to it, so when someone gifts a free beta key they got that's virtually unlimited, they are basically "buffing" up their account so they can get into groups that are aimed to reward REAL gifters, not self-serving leeches who got keys for free.
E: if there is any confusion, when I say feedback I basically mean the value of gifts gifted by a gifter.
Inflation: Point inflation, I select which games I REALLY want to play, not just "kind of" want to play. I imagine most other people (with the exception of people who just don't want a whole lot or have huge libraries) do so as well. When there are like 30-40 giveaways for one game popping up that rapidly increases the amount of points everyone have, now rather than having a 1 in 500 chance for a few games I really want (arbitrary value) now I have a 1 in 700 chance for the games I really want (and yes I also have extra points to spend on games I don't want nearly as much, but I rather just have a better chance at the games I DO really want.)
You can say that I'm blowing it out of proportion but that basically has happened since SMNC giveaways started. I noticed a big influx in entries on all games, was really noticeable on some of the smaller indie games I usually enter, entries increasing by 100-300 (for the smaller ones).
I don't know, I just feel like it's a better system when you really have to decide what game you want to enter into, that way the gifter knows they are most likely giving the game to someone who actually wants to play the shit out of it.
P.S. @Banjo2E I don't like bananas and I don't think I'm going to find any on the moon :(

Will you be assassinating our loved ones or are you planning on outsourcing those duties?

I just hit "ignore" on those. I don't want to win a damn beta. Also it'll be free once it's live so meh. I say ban the game from the site?

Another question: What about group giveaways? does the same rule apply?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep, same rule. Even in private giveaways, you're not meant to misreport the game.

Every time you submit SMNC as MNC, someone you love dearly and who loves you back will die.
