these threads make me die a little inside. I genuinely wonder what drives people to be so selfish and greedy that they scam, cheat people out of things, and are genuinely rude to people who are nice (oh, not saying if you aren't a gifter you're a horrible person--that'd make me a horrible person for a little while longer :D, and this isn't aimed at you OP, just ranting). I just find it sad that people can wonder the reverse : |

I doubt the people on here do things because it makes them feel good. Volunteering gives actual satisfaction because you see you're helping someone. On here, the most you get, even from the person receiving a gift, is a "thanks a lot, man." Most of the games people win, they don't play.

WTF are you talking about? "I doubt the poeple on here do things because it makes them feel good." There is literally no reward for creating a giveaway beyond your own personal satisfaction you get from it. It doesn't matter if the person thanks you or not, if you created the giveaway without someone asking you to do it then you have done so out of your own desire to make one.

The only reason a person creates a giveaway is so they can get something out of it. Giving away 5 $1 games doesn't make you a saint. It means you want to join a group that forces you to do it - just so you get more games for yourself...or you got games from the gift pile you already had.

You are sadly mistaken, sir. I enjoy making giveaways and I have no desire to join any of those groups. A group that forces you to make giveaways makes your generosity compulsory rather than voluntary, and I don't like being told what to do in a nutshell. I never expect to win anything here, in fact. I'm not interested in the vast majority of the giveaways and I buy the games I want long before the odds will work out in my favor. Nice try. 6/10

Because if you share a game you really enjoy then you get multiple things.
1) You get to support the games you love a) by purchasing again & b) by promoting a game you enjoyed
2) You get to share the receiver's excitement and you get to enjoy the feeling of giving in general. Reaffirmation of your goodness if you will.

because there are still some altruists left in our society who believe that greed is not a priority and freely giving is worthwhile.
it's why santa clause is still abound

Ah, but if you spend your life getting nothing but socks from Santa, it makes it feel so much better when you finally do get a game you really wanted. It's all about perspective.
