Just noticed Skyrim Special Edition has appeared in my Steam library available to Pre-Load (not playable until unlock).

Unlock will be 12am October 28th here are some regional times for the unlock.

5pm Pacific Time (October 27)
8pm Eastern Time (October 27)
1am British Summer Time (October 28)
2am Central European Summer Time (October 28)
11am Australian Eastern Time Zone (October 28)
1pm New Zealand Time (October 28th)

You also have until the game unlocks to purchase Skyrim and it's DLC to be eligible to recieve Special Edition at no extra cost.

If you don't see Special Edition and you have Skyrim with all DLC or Legendary Edition in your library don't panic Valve is working on getting it out to everyone eligible. See official statement (Thanks Skibby!)

Restarted Steam and it hasn't shown up yet.
Got another game to play on the 27th anyway (Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2!!!)
I'll get to Skyrim SE soon enough.

But it has all new shaders and stuff! And maybe even the old mods will work for it! (Except if not. Which would make everyone migrate back to the old edition, like what happened to Baldur's Gate.)

Oh man too bad I don't have any DLC, I could have gotten it for free :P

You actually have until the game unlocks to get any missing DLC to recieve Special Edition. I'll make a note of that in the original post.

Will the Legendary Edition still be upgraded if you purchase it at some point in the future? Or is this offer only applicable for those who already owned it up until now?

Just trying to figure out if there's a time limit on this.

Only until it gets unlocked.

This post implies you can upgrade later as well
"Update: Please note that if you do not complete your Skyrim + all DLC bundle until October 28th, your free upgrade to Skyrim Special Edition may take up to 36 hours to apply to your account. "

I think they refer to people that complete their bundle just on the 28th, but yeah... sounds misleading.
A few lines down below:

To ensure eligibility, you must own all Skyrim content on Steam on or before October 28th.

I'm think they're going to disable sales of Skyrim Vanilla and DLC's on Steam, but people who have gifts and keys will still be able to activate and get the Special edition later. They love to be ambiguous though, guess we'll find out later ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Will it be as overrated as the original?

More so! (Secretly has not played the original due to waiting for the remaster... and now realizing that I probably can't even run it on my nearly 7 year old rig...)

I had a GTX560Ti, loved that card. It died while playing a game. It was replaced at no cost to me with a GTX 590, but the GTX 560Ti seemed like it had been the better card (despite being cheaper).

I'm running Fallout 4 with a HD 6850 at 1280x720 (1920x1080 is a slideshow) and ReShade and I get average 35 FPS (It's really playable). Since this Skyrim has the same reqs as Fallout 4, then maybe you'll be able to run it.

It looks fantastic at 1280x720, though the UI font looks slightly jaded due to the sharpen shader.

Maybe I will give it a whirl after all then as I have been really wanting to give it a go. Just it is a big DL, and I have silly low capped Internet Provider so I try to avoid wasting my limited DL GBs. .

No SkyUI, no reason to play.
Same with probably-hundreds of other mods.

At least Unofficial Skyrim Patch is already ported (or at least in-porting, no idea if they finished it) to Remaster (some modders received Early Access to Remaster and already ported their mods, probably with "as long as you port it for XB1 too" disclaimer...).

Still no preload here... not that it matters to me, actually, as I'm currently on Linux Mint 17.3 due to issues with Windows 10.
I plan to reinstall Windows 7, but I probably couldn't even run it, as my PC is quite old and weak (although powerful enough for the old version).

I'm that one guy that has 500+ hours on vanilla Skyrim, can't wait to waste 500+ hours in the remastered version.

The same as for normal Skyrim just not the ones with that require SKSE. We will have to wait for that probably 1 or 2 weeks if we are lucky.

I'm just done with the vanilla game and about to start Dawnguard.
I seriously see no point in this remastered version for PC players, considering that pretty much all the new things can, AFAIK, be done with mods.
But I'm sure it will bring Bethesda plenty of cash. I'm okay with it though, hoping it will help to make The Elder Scrolls VI happen.

Point for this new PC version is to get modders to update mods for X1PS4.

Permalink

Yet the problem is that Skyrim is 5 years old and a lot of the great mods are now unsupported.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It just combines 50 texture mods into 1 it will probably look worse but whatever.
Also 64-bit instead of 32-bit so a more stable game with more mods etc...

No way u are done with the vanilla game too many side quests...

I really hope TES: VI won't happen anytime soon i really hope they wait for the 1100 or 1200 nvidia series so we can have some amazing stuff going on on screen especially if they choose elsweyr for the 6th TES. Also the more time the more we get i would much rather see one awesome game every 10 years then 3 decent games every 3 years.

About the mods im sure u can port them yourself really easy.
And i think non-skse mods work without any porting or something.

Downloaded and setup my VPN again can't wait to play it tommorow :D (Again, yes i know its not a new game but i wanted to replay it again and i was too lazy to download 50 mods.)

Also anyone else wondering why noone is allowed to show the helgen part on youtube?
TES 6 teaser or something probably not but just wondering... I think its just for spoiler reason
