I screwed up my Skyrim game so badly with conflicting mods that I had to stop playing because it just crashes every 5 minutes, maybe I'll play this, if only to finish up the main quest that I never bothered with before.

So how many hours do we have left to get all the DLCs to be eligible for the upgrade? I might be interested in doing so but not sure if I still have enough time.... Perhaps we could have a timer for that?

According to this announcement you still have time to get it by the end of the 28th (which may be UTC time which would be about 10 hours 30 minutes from this reply. But the original announcement stated by the 28th which was when it unlocked.

Sorry, ever since steamgifts and steamtrades were separated I rarely check the discussions here and totally forgot about that.
Right after I redeemed Skyrim: Legendary Edition it seemed like it wouldn't work since I still had to buy the Special Edition and there was no option in the store to get a free upgrade.
However, I just checked it again and realized that the Special Edition was added to my library the same day, prolly a few hours after redeeming Skyrim: Legendary Edition.

Just noticed Skyrim Special Edition has appeared in my Steam library available to Pre-Load (not playable until unlock).
Unlock will be 12am October 28th here are some regional times for the unlock.
You also have until the game unlocks to purchase Skyrim and it's DLC to be eligible to recieve Special Edition at no extra cost.
If you don't see Special Edition and you have Skyrim with all DLC or Legendary Edition in your library don't panic Valve is working on getting it out to everyone eligible. See official statement (Thanks Skibby!)
