Steam is so broken right now that only the client worked for completing the purchase, in browser or the phone app it just died before reaching the end.
Thanks for the heads up, it looks like an interesting game.

Heard the name saw the logo and immediately thought of adidas and its logo.

Its not a price error :(

I mean it has no sense to have a launch discount of 15% and after just a month to jack it all the way to 90%. I'm not complaining since it was in my wishlist, but it doesn't feel fair to those who bought in on release.

That is correct, they may have revisited the base price.

Well that wasn't a good business decision. 90% off 1 month after release and then announce it'll be free lol. Most of the people that bought it will be refunding

It's 90% off at 0,77€ in one of the highest priced regions. (EU)

I'd say most people who are interested in these niche sort of games won't fret about the equivalent of 1/3 cup of plain coffee or 1/6 pack of cigarettes.

Afterall only with a paid copy you can write reviews that count and the game might get trading cards down the line.

It takes no effort to refund and a lot of the people buying it were only buying it cuz they thought it was a price error. I refunded it cuz money is money, no matter how low the cost is. I'm sure some people will keep it and not refund but I think the mass majority were just buying it cuz it's cheap and won't actually play it

Cool, I had actually refunded this game after learning that it was soon becoming free so it's nice to see it happening, otherwise I'd have felt a bit dumb XD

I tried to refund it but I get the message "This purchase contains consumable content that cannot be refunded".

I bought it on Dec 21st, so I'm still in the 2 weeks period and played it for 108 minute (less then 2 hours).
Does anybody know why I can't refund it?

Because it probably contributed to one of Winter Sale 2024 Cards you got.

I'm not sure about that. I don't have any of those cards, I didn't buy enough to get even a single card. And I think any purchase would contribute to a Winter Sale 2024 card so that would mean that you can't refund any of your winter sale purchases.
BTW, I opened a support ticket. I'm curious what support has to say about it. It's not a big thing it was only 0,77 EUR after all.

[edit]
Steam support refunded the game without any questions.

Not having the similar experience. So much back and forth with the messaging. They are denying my request. They are saying I must contact the developer. What can developer do about this? I have not launched the game and I'm within the 14 days time frame. First time I'm seeing steam/valve being so scummy with the customer support. I didn't expected this from them.

They accepted mine but the rep said he'll make an exception cause I was just slightly out of the return window by like 2 hours, and I think they can see I never refund anything, + I bought a bunch of stuff to make up profit somewhere else. But I mean how could I know the dev is gonna put it on 90% for xmas then go f2p? Also I pointed out there is no mtx, dlc, pass, whatever in this game so there's no reason I should see that error.

I also pointed out the same. What is that consumable content? I never installed it and I'm well within my time frame of refunding. They didn't explain it. They tried so much that I don't go further with the discussion. In the end they said that, for the good cutomer service gesture, they are refunding. But, they didn't accept that, the error is on their part.

All of that makes me glad that I refunded it before it became free so I didn't have to deal with that mess.

You were lucky. I (or anyone for that matter) have to be careful in future and also look for such announcement on the main game page.

Steam reps never admit that they are at fault for something. With steam being so popular with pc players, their employees developed ego's bigger than trump or elon. It's pretty toxic tbh and it's sad to see where steam is gonna go when gaben is fully gone. They almost lost me my account this summer cause of their dumbass mistake and the rep didn't feel bad at all for how unhelpful and incoherent his responses were. Pretty sure gaben gives him the good money to be that useless tho, must be nice.

There's a lot of hate for epic games, or other platforms, but honestly the only thing that sets steam apart and keeps it worthwile is gaben. 1 person. I could go on to speak about the poor performance of the vac anticheat team, and the even worse performance of the cs2 team.

Glad they refunded your your game tho, I again don't even understand why they'd question it. It's the dev that pulled a quick one, not your fault.

Interesting to see how valve as a company moves further after the inevitable happens.
But this interaction made me somewhat skeptical about them. I've had good and pleasant customer support experiences a couple of times in the past (before 2020). I don't know about anyone else, but even EA support was also quite helpful with the problem I had with my account a couple of years ago.

I haven't bothered purchasing directly on steam in recent times since they have completely botched up the regional prices (just some purchases here and there at a discount). I mostly get games from the 3rd party bundles. Plus, amazon has been very great with their offerings as of late (at an affordable price too), and epic weekly and occasional free GOG offerings made me spend very little on steam in recent times.

And steam also realizes that their main customers are from developed countries (plus some North-East Asian regions). So, maybe they are less interested in attracting customers from other regions. I'm happy that I've made my purchases of some of the classic games in earlier times (before the price hike happened).
Their app, forum, workshop etc. are quite good to use, though. My libraries are quite filled. They will keep me occupied with the hobby (for the lifetime, I guess) even if I don't purchase anything from any platform. So, overall, I'm in a good space as a gamer, unless some drastic changes happen in the policies of all the stores.

I assume it went to F2P game support rules for valve assuming its in game transactions and not a paid to 100% free game(which won't be the most common of things), most devs of the F2P games will ban you if you refund any way besides through them.

I got the refund after a long discussion (as stated in the reply above). For whatever reason, if they want to ban, then be it. I won't be so worked up about an indie (or even any larger publisher) dev banning me over a F2P title refund issue (which was caused by themselves in the first place). At the time of the purchase, it wasn't free. So, the normal refund process must be followed. They must sort this thing out (valve as well as publishers/devs before going for such F2P route).
I am not satisfied by valve's response though. It sounded like they are doing me a favour by refunding even though I'm eligible for normal refund process accoarding to their policy.

I mean it's not a mmo, nothing they could ban for, you could still play the game singleplayer after you refund and get it for free.

I was going to refund this out of principle, but reading why it's went free I decided not to bother. It didn't sell when released and even with the sale it didn't sell all that well either. To then just give it away for free in hopes that people will at least play it? There's so much complete trash on Steam, this seems to be a dev that is at least trying, but simply not finding any success. I can respect that, it's not a cash grab, it's just a dev that gave up when they saw the numbers.
