Ubigoon1: The company is going down. There is nothing we can do to save it.

Ubigoon2: I have a crazy idea! What if we let people simply... buy our games!?

Ubigoon2: Players are asking us to sell Rocksmith 2014 again. We should give what they want.

Ubigoon1: We invested a lot in Rocksmith+, but okay, give them Rocksmith 2014 back but worse than ever, without licensed songs in the base game and CDLC support, so they'll go buy a Rocksmith+ subscription.

Wow, and only $3? I paid $30 before it got delisted because of course they weren't going to hold a sale. Ah well, I've certainly gotten my money's worth out of it so far--anyone even considering picking up a guitar should snag a copy at this price!

A word of warning for people who get massive buyers FOMO: I have ended up spending an ungodly amount of money on this game, and you might do too if you pick it up. All of its DLC (1200+ currently) has a super clear and set countdown pretty much to being delisted. Since a newer Rocksmith game has been released, none of the songs this one has licensed to sell as DLC will get their contracts renewed (or even ever go on sale...). So every month, all of the DLC that released in that same month 10 years ago gets delisted. It's rough to watch and resist picking some of them up, especially when there are just sooo many great songs this game has licensed, and with just how great of a way it is to learn them on bass and guitar. I'm still kicking myself for missing out on picking up Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4 and The Smashing Pumpkin's 1979, and they were delisted over a year ago now...

Look into https://customsforge.com/. I could swear that 2014 edition was able to be modded and I once imported songs that were never released on Steam/etc.. Wanted to learn to play bass on a number of songs for some of my favorite punk bands and not the sellouts like Greenday et. al.

1000% customsforge fan - it will change your life. You do have to buy one track that all the CLDCs in there 'work off of' but so worth it

The new .exe makes some issues so far, but the devs are working to update the CDLC Patcher.
By the way.. does the customforge bypass the original cable somehow or do you really need the original cable to play it?

I've got the cable, as I thought it was needed as part of turning your PC into an "faux-amp". I haven't looked into this, but apparently there are ways to bypass the "official" cable. https://www.reddit.com/r/rocksmith/comments/t83tt7/do_i_need_a_realtone_cable/

every song is 1 DLCs? :-O Does Base game include something?

There are a bunch of DLC bundle packs that make them a bit cheaper to get, but yeah pretty much. The base game does include a decent amount of songs though. I think the old version included more, but this one still comes with a few packs. If you want free songs though, I think you should still have access to CDLC with minimal effort, which is user-made ports of songs that never got officially released as DLC - of which there are several thousand. And many of those are just as high quality as the official releases. :)

from the about section:
In 2023, Rocksmith 2014 Remastered was temporarily removed due to the expiration of our music licensing deals. While we believe Rocksmith+ offers the ultimate destination for learning guitar, bass and piano with its extensive music catalog, we have also heard the Rocksmith 2014 community’s feedback. You asked for Rocksmith 2014 Remastered to return, so we did just that! We have been hard at work to deliver a special version giving you the choice to own your songs and enjoy popular features like Guitarcade and Session Mode.

There were a lot of licenses that expired during it's time away from Steam, I've linked the full list below. Ubisoft also provided all of the licenses that will be expiring until April 28, 2025, so if you are getting this and DLCs this is good information to read.

Oh...I bought a leftover physical copy back in January because, at the time, I didn't realize it had been delisted a couple months before. It was like $65 (which was the best price I could find) and the average sale price was only going up. Considering that I haven't had time this year to learn the guitar, it would have been nice to know that it would come back for $3. XD Ah well, at least the physical copy came with a cable.

(The really bad part is that the Iron Maiden DLC pack was delisted in November 2023)

Definitely a no-brainer at this price, though. If you have any interest in learning the guitar or bass, might as well grab it in case they delist it again. There's a lot of custom DLC out there as well.

Thats sad. But the relist came as a surprise.

lol I guess their hope that delisting it would somehow make people happy to pay the price of the game monthly for a lesser version turned out to be just naive.

I hope all the scalpers who bought all those keys right before it was delisted managed to unload them on the grey market at 85 bucks a piece... :P

There is also a speculation about Deadpool returning. Not 100% sure but something is cooking for sure.

And Marvel: Ultimate Alliance? Nice. (Deadpool is also in this one)
I am honestly pretty surprised Disney hasn't revived all these games already. They're a money making machine before anything else and if they can make money off an IP without having to spend anything, why would they not do it?

Rocksmith supports acoustic guitars. But most included songs are for electric and bass. You can try DLCs or custom songs

I'm not 100% sure since the patch notes just say "Adjusted some of the songs included in the game," but based on comments and reviews, they may have removed licensed songs in this re-release: https://steamcommunity.com/app/221680/discussions/0/601891224286238414/

I would highly recommend this game if you have any interest in learning guitar or if you are a beginner looking to learn new songs. It is much better than the newer Rocksmith.
