.....I kinda liked the bundle. I didn't have any of it so I'm not complaining. I honestly think people are trying to expect too much from it. Just look at the thread of guess for the bundle

Maybe I'm naive I am too naive most of the time but I kinda hoped in something ~ half year old, *good* indie game in the pack, at least one. Or just exactly one. Like Oxenfree, The Cave,The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human, Moon Hunters or to be extremely hopeful, Enter the Gungeon (wouldn't happen, I know :) ) - so yeah, mostly I would expect one game that's good, well-known, but older. I listen to multiple podcasts, I follow multiple channels that mention intresting indie titles, and I actually feel really underwhelmed that I don't know most of the titles (I don't have friends close for Partybox, and I already have Van Helsing 1-2 so the collection is a waste for me - I would be just as happy / happier with the third one :D )
I really love indies, but these games are missing a certain vibe, or charm to them, that would make me want to play them. Planet of the Eyes looks extremely similar to Limbo in gameplay, for example. I'm thinking about maybe keeping POI and Planet o.t.E and maybe try to trade Van Helsing complete for VH3 so we both profit on it... I'm not angry at them, it's just doesn't make me happy :\

I don't think those guesses were realistic, but this August pack was just plain bad. We were hoping that possibly the worst early unlock of the monthlies hid great games, but a broken unfinished shooter, a bunch of trivia question of American pop culture that is barely if even playable for anyone on another continent, a package combining a bunch of games that were bundled a million times already (not to mention that for the owners of those games it was even a free pack), a bullet hell shooter (one of the most niché genres, probably even more niché than a VN), a decent-looking 3D platformer, and another 2D platformer (in a sea of cheap indie platformers) is not only not something "premium", which the Monthly tries to sell itself as, but it would be considered a weak pack even on Bundle Stars or IndieGala. This current monthly is something I could very much expect to pop up on Groupees.
I defended the other monthly bundles, because they tried to have variety and introduce overlooked and nice games of various genres, but this one is just weak. The only good thing I can say about it is that it wasn't as horrible as the PayDay 2 bundle.

Have you checked out Random Access Murder since it released? It's definitely a bottom-of-the-IndieGala-barrel title. A $3 game that appears to be way over-priced.

It is getting past that now. I'd say it is past now Groupees levels. It is somewhere around a bad DIG bundle levels with ratings, slowly reaching a bad Cubic Bundle one, which is already in the "mass gleam.io giveaways" part.
This game is shaping up to be such a colossal misfire for HB, it is not even funny. I mean really not funny.

I think the problem is the expectation created by the main bundle.
The main bundle often have good games for really cheap and when it doesn't it's easy to forget about it since you just skip it.
For the monthly, when it's not good you are stuck with games you paid for but do not want. So only regrets are left.
And personally I wish they would reveal the games from the start and put less but better games in the monthly.

It's definitly the worst monthly so far. Although for me the Black Ops starter pack wasn't too bad. I got it during the summer sale and got the upgrade for 15 euro. So far, I'm having a good time with the game. But I did stop my subscription after seeing the next early unlock. I doubt the bundles will get much better from now on.
It seems like peoples predictions when it first started came true (a couple of good bundles to get people in and then just crap to maybe decent bundles)...
