I agree, they never come cheap-ish though. However since this one is quite old I think we can expect -40% in 2-3 years. I still gotta buy Clannad before anything. Kinda need those nostalgia since I really like early 2000's character designs.

I actually tried to do that but before removing them I decided to watch at least one episode to see what was it about to go into my backlog. I only managed to remove 3-4 titles out of hundreds, clearly it didn't work. :)
SOLs are to be cherished, I still wait for Yuru Yuri spin-off. I think that's shonens for me, I continue to watch One Piece (because it didn't end) but I didn't start any shonen for years.

I feel VN adaptations are pretty rare nowadays, it's a difficult medium to adapt though. 9-Nine got an announcement not long ago, that's another one I've wanted to read.

They were always kinda rare though but I feel the same. Maybe it's because our interests got narrowed in years. I use to check every one of them, don't do that for a very long time now.
If 9-Nine will get an adaptation too, I assume there will also be all-ages version of VNs considering the usual fashion. I might get surprised though. :)

I know nothing about this 25 year old game, but find it interesting that it was first an adult game and then rereleased without the naughty bits. Naked 9 year old Gollum girls is a horrifying thought. If they aren't naked and the game just focused on their panties or something? Even worse.

But with regards to anime:
First, as a disclaimer, I am very far removed from Japanese culture. Having said that, I feel like a lot of anime has an undercurrent of misogyny that's now almost inextricably embedded within the style that removing it would make the work feel less authentically anime. I won't speak to this one, as it seems sweet enough (though not visually appealing to me), but I have seen women and especially girls depicted as shrill, moody and occasionally hysterical. In some instances, this hysteria manifests itself by their eyes being replaced by dark scribbles as their screaming faces flush and their teeth temporarily sharpen. If the girl is not the hysterical type, she's likely a timid little thing that occasionally claps her hands with glee while squealing in delight. Just not my thing.

Pre-update Higurashi was similar, CLANNAD is kinda fucked up even according to some of its fans, and there was a gorgeous looking VN where everyone had giraffe necks.
The graphics doesn't make the story. It may be... problematic to play for some, which is understandable, but it's not like it immediately, objectively turn a game / visual novel awful.

no it isn't and it is a bit blunt to call it so - while it does have a sex scene for each girl in the original version - this is an all ages version and the sex scenes are well known for being one of the worst things in a visual novel ever
I am surprised with how cheep you can get a Dreamcast version for although I doubt they are in English
If you want a true version go and watch the newer of the two animes

I have a dreamcast and ive come across this title and Air being sold second hand, but yeah the vast library of DC VNs are just japan imports.
On steam i pretty much keep anything i can get for cheap. But these character designs are just too much for me.

The sad part to me, is that these "Retouched HD visuals and CG coloring" are just cropped versions of the original, so it could fit 16x9. Less art, for a higher price.
