Origin showed the Weekly Mystery Deal #7 and I clicked on it and to my shock...one of the best deals ever...:o

I went to pay for it, realized I didn't have any more money in my paypal anymore, so I canceled the transaction. To my shock, the deal was taken out of my cart! I clicked on the link again but to my displeasure...the deal was back at full price.

So I contacted Origin live chat and they were awesome! :O

Part 1 of Transcript
Part 2 of Transcript

Pastebin of full transcript including two other support robot/human. Sensitive info was still taken out

Holy shit...I hear all these bad things about Origin support and I was prepared for the worst. That was so nice of them...:D

Hijacked.

You should have called them and they'd be able to give you a better deal.

I called the Swedish EA support back when they were giving out a free game due to the SimCity issues. I already had all games (except MoH: Warfighter) so they fixed it so I could pick any EA game on Origin. I picked Dragon Age 2. Also I was still able to redeem MoH: Warfighter so I did that too.

Oh god, that wall of text, why not just put a screenshot of this instead?

Because it was probably easier to C&P the text than to take a screenshot, upload it somewhere, then C&P the link here? And it would've just been a screenshot of text, so what's the difference?

You didn't get it back during the CNY sales on Origin? It was much cheaper for me then cause of SG(Singapore) prices.

Would a support member actually use words such as 'bro'? I see that as very unprofessional.

Yup. People talking to people, not pointless 'professional copy/paste' of many places out there that don't even care for your problem, Steam Support included...

That reminds me, I have a steam support ticket open and no one replied yet. It was about the TF2 promotional items for COH2 that I didn't get yet. =.=

Who cares about "professionalism" if the guy solves your problem?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If an employee is able to adapt the way he engages in a conversation with a customer, and the customer is as happy as OP is judging by his post, that's the definition of professionalism in my book.
I'd rather have 1 of these guys help me out then some prick who's waiting for me to disconnect so he can take his coffee break.

Yeah I don't really get why people shit on origin so much. Its flawed because its young, otherwise its works and has lots of potential.
And on the subject of your story I had a similiar experience.

I got a 33% off code for my B-Day and all it said was that it didn't work on pre-orders.
Tried to use it on Battlefield 3 Premium, didn't work... So I contacted support and the person I talked to said that though it wasn't listed it doesn't apply, BUT, he gave me a 25% employee discount on it.
Needless to say, I was overall happy with that even though I didn't get to use my 33% coupon on it.

Hmm, I was in the same boat but had a different outcome.
I tried to use the 33% off code on the Premium upgrade for BF3 (had base game) and it didn't work. It actually seemed like it didn't work on anything.

I sent an email to tech support, they told me they'd get back to me. About a month later they contact me, say they're still working on issues with codes and to reply if I still wanted help. I replied.
Another month later, they simply contact me to tell me they were sorry for the delay and that they were adding the game (for free) to my account.

Overall, it took a while for them to fix my issue but I'm still pleased with the result. It was a 50$ purchase and it hadn't yet been offered at reduced price. I've seen them give away quite a few things for free when people had issues, the support seems nice.

Wow, yeah, even though that was quite the wait I'd actually take that over a % discount.
Gotta be honest I don't even remember if I bothered using that 33% code after that, all I wanted was BF3 Premium. Maybe I had the same issue as you, the code just didn't work at all. Lol.

W/e a happy ending is a happy ending.

The thing with Origin is that EA is cutting out the middle man by selling all their own titles on their own platform.
And it's because of blatant greed like that, that you're forced to have an account on every major publishers own platform in the near future.
Sure they have nice deals, and sure they're able to give lots and lots of stuff away for free, but who wouldn't do that to promote their platform if it means they'll take the full 100% you paid for a game instead of the usual 20-30%(?)

But, I had an account for just about everything anyways. That hasn't changed, the only thing that has is an extra client I need to deal with. That sucks ><.

I made the account for Command and Conquer. I could've easily bought Red Alert 3 + Uprising on Steam for $40 total but decided Amazon's deal of like $15.99 for ultimate collection was worth the client. :)

Seems like you were lucky and landed on someone who isn't Indian.

No offence to Indians, of course. It's just dumb to hire support staff who have no direct contact with the people who actually code the stuff and/or do not understand or care about the products/services they're supporting.

usually that's what every big company does, not only EA.... because there (and not only there, ofc) it's cheaper so they don't have to spend a lot

As someone that doesnt care for any of the OPs games, its still a great deal. Also the glitch didnt let people get BF3 or MOH (at the time) for free, which makes this a better deal.

EA has good customer service unless the game just came out and they are having a lot of problems. Sim City was just a disaster and they did not handle it well as usual.
