Skyrim is the worst game for climbing mountains on horseback

One word of advice: Mods! Lots and lots of mods. There's one out there for EVERYTHING. So go browse Nexus and Workshop and just try whatever seems interesting to you. I have a quite long list of mods I can't do without anymore if you want but I'm too lazy to search em up now. Send a PM my way if you want it.
And to answer your question I usually play with a combination of stealth and bow with one or two companions(alwasy Inigo as he is by far my favourite and sometimes I take with me a second custom one like Sophia, Arissa, Atvir or Hoth). I find it the most enjoyable but that's just me, I don't think there's a "best" style, just preffered ones :P

I absolutely agree with KonOkami, you need this mods for full Skyrim experience!

Man, It's been a while since I've played Skyrim. I cannot remember what style I used. I think I mainly used a bow & arrow, with one of the Elf races. Anyway, I'd say the best way to enjoy TES: Skyrim is to mod the shit out of the game until your PC cannot handle it & cracks under the pressure. Also, the potato mod is a must!

Oh, that sucks. If you do decide to download it, be sure to make a backup of the original game files! Anyway, I'm all out of ideas. Good luck.
All this Skyrim talk makes me want to download it & mod the shit out of it. Pity my internet is capped. =(

The most OP style is maxing Destruction and Enchantment first, while using heavy armors. When you max your enchantment skills, you enchant four different pieces of armor with the "25% mana reduction cost for destruction spells" enchantment. Equip them, and you can throw all the ligthnings you want. Jesus, even dragons won't last more than 20 secs with this. There is that talent which allows you to overcharge spells using them in both hands, making the enemy lose his balance.

I am no expert but you could try to play it like this man is doing.

Hardest difficulty, + mods that make it more difficult (there's a couple that scale difficulty better at higher levels, and one that adds realism I.E. cold, needing to eat and sleep etc.) Better textures shouldn't lower performance. Improved draw distance, water, and HD textures if you can handle it, although that's iffy on a laptop.

There is also SkyRE, is a mod that change and make some balances into the game, better magicks, better races, better combat and moar skillz D:

My favorite style is sneaky bastard thief archer that can 1 - 2 shot pretty much every monster with critical bonus. Because i like the tension of playing without being notice and before being hitting :D the problem is the companion that are generally too dumb to understand what stealth is and if we are crouching on the ground, its not to jump like crazy when someone enter in their vision path...
I finished skyrim and pretty much all side quest except few bugged ones... (no mods quest)
I actually restarted skyrim few month ago after adding a lots of mods for graphics and realism, recreated a character and decided to be a wizard bitch that burn everything then laugh, and playing more in RP style (always walking when travelling, used mod to simulate freezing damage when snowing etc...) and this i am not wasting time collecting each and every item in all chest / bag etc in each and every donjon of the game xD
actually that is quite enjoying to play like that, its clearly a waste of time, but still, pretty much enjoying.

I also play on a laptop, so far i have no issues with mods/overheating. Thing about laptops is you don't know what they can handle unless you try. Just avoid mods that change grapics to much and you shuld be fine.
As of the style, i prefer a Sword and a Shield, basic stuff i know, but it's so satisfying bashing someone to death with a shield :D

I usually play Skyrim, like a sneaky bastard. I use a thievery mod, what makes it more interesting and add more options, like water arrows, and slitting throats, etc.

Play. Mod. Play. Mod some more. Play. Edit some mods to fit your tastes best. Play a bit. Start making your own mods. Stop playing. :)

I played Skyrim a long time ago before I joined Steam, and recently bought the anthology. I spent 13 hours setting up my mods, then proceeded to barely play the game. I still need to go through it for the achievements :)
My first playthrough was vanilla. I insisted on not using any mods because I wanted to experience the game as is. Some of the bugs were...interesting. Some not so great. I must say the game with a lot of mods is a lot more fun. Just setting it up and getting them to work was pretty amusing for me (probably not so amusing to people that kept seeing my popup on Steam).
Start a new game. Especially if you haven't played it in a while, the experience won't be the same. I've played through the game at least 2 -3 times. I've tried to switch playstyles but I can't find myself to do it. I always fall back to the same playstyle each time. My playstyle:
Breton (because magic is broken and the natural magic resistance really helps).
Combination archer + swordsman (more like 90% swordsman, 10% archer, to be honest). Magician late game. This has always been my playstyle for some reason.
I REALLY suck at in-your-face combat. Always hid behind my follower to tank, I have no idea how everyone else does it, because I die in like two hits on the hardest difficulty. Started off most battles by firing arrows in sneak mode until the sneak damage no longer worked, let my ally run up then switch to melee. Early stage dragon fights always gave me worlds of trouble.
Dual 1-handed for me all the way. Why? It's flexible. I can throw in a shield. I can switch to a spell and heal while swiping at people. That, and it's much, much faster. I'm one of those people that hates slow attack speed.
The above will steadily up my 1-handed, archery, and sneak skills. And on the side, restoration and heavy armor. Magic can go screw itself (my opinion, of course). Playing as a mage really sucks because I always ran out of magicka. When I leveled up, I would never level magicka, only health and stamina. I'd usually deal with having sucky magicka until I reach a point where I can get magicka reduction cost.
There used to be a glitch where you can wear a Falmer's Helmet and a Circlet at the same time. I definitely abused that way too much to get one set of heavy armor which gave me 100% reduction in mana cost for each school. It's pretty satisfying running around casting high level magic skills without ever having to hide and wait for magicka to come back. This has been patched though, so I'll probably have to figure something out myself when I start playing again (I think you can still get 100% reduction, I will just need to sacrifice an ability on another piece of equipment.)
The highest archer skill is so broken. Fire arrows until paralysis. Run up and hack at your motionless opponent. Rinse and repeat. Or when you have 100% alteration reduction, you can spam the paralyze spell.
Sorry, turned into an essay. Also, sorry if I spoiled anything. Definitely got carried away there.

so I'm thinking of starting skyrim again. I have played very little of it I got too much involved in side quests... main missions..I don't even remember them but I got in hunters guild n to join them did bunch of stuff last mission was where I became werewolf n slaughtered a bunch of people
I wanted to ask which according to you is best play style? which one did you use? I am dark elf with one hand for fire n another for sword can't i become vampire too ? once I have become werewolf? what was/is your favorite style? I don't mean class as it doesn't make that much of difference, but play style as in sneaky/ Sword berserk/ stay away n shoot arrows/ Same but shoot magic cuz it looks kewl
also I don't know how to contact you Rinrin but if you read this that thread bump was Not random. I hate to create new threads. I simply wanted to start Skyrim but didn't know if I should start with altogether new game or continue with the previous.
