I wanted to be an aviator, but I hadn't studied for the test so I had to fly by the seat of my pants. Luckily I passed with flying colors, but my instructor said I'd only be an aviator "when pigs will fly!"

That is impressive if you can do it with a plane. I would want to learn to fly either a helicopter or small plane if I had the time and money for it.

Go for the small plane, helicopters don't fall down that gracefully.

My preference actually goes to the helicopter and apparently you can turn of the engine of a helicopter in the air and still land safely quite easily even.

Air Traffic Controller that's cool I heard it was one of the most stressful jobs. There's a (japanese, I think) air traffic controller simulator game I played once, it was not easy :D

Every day is a new experience in this job. It is indeed highly stressful yet highly satisfactory at the end of the day. I am living my dream.

Ah, nice! Yes, they've all been great! They occasionally offer tours to pilots of our nearby TRACON, and i've always enjoyed visiting, chatting with the controllers, and watching them work.

Well, those tours are admittedly pretty rare, no more than once a year, and so I've only managed to go twice since I started taking lessons almost ten years ago. But still, they do it occasionally.

i'm about the same (so's my wife). recently discovered my work will pay for me to learn something, so i'm thinking of taking aerobatic lessons when i'm eligible. or maybe i'll do something more useful like instrument.

Not in real life sadly, but I flew quite a few hours in Flight Simulator X. My favorite plane was the Grumman Goose. Small planes are so great, especially amphibious planes, where you can land in water, or take off from it.

Here, it wasn't a thing, never heard of it. But we had TaleSpin. Cloud surfing? Every kid wanted to do that. And the plane was a little like a Grumman. I used to love that show.

I have read that these Simulators are almost as good as the real thing!
