Hello guys ,
I got like 70,000 cd keys that I going to giveaway soon ,
Im the owner of Deduction's community + TF2~Raffles + some groups.
I wanted to ask if you guys like the gleam.io system , like that you need to do tasks to get the key.
so thats kinda win / win.
If you don't like it , can I ask why and how should I giveaway it?
If you like it , I would like to ask how many tasks MAX you will do to get the game (I talking about game that was'nt for free) + Game that was free many times.
Thanks

it will put a lot of people off but so long as they're not too bad (requiring registrations with multiple different sites for example or watching videos [will put off people with lower bandwidth]) then you'll probably still get a lot of takers

well if think you should make a giveaway here
just like that 50000 key giveaway here is
cuz gleam keys gets taken by bots and many people take many keys for many accs when here u cant do it cuz you need high value in an acc

Yes but I need to get also people to visit websites / follow twitter and all this stuff ,
And I sadly can't do that with steamgifts

I'd suggest put some giveaways on steamgifts (with links in description) and some in gleam. you could even put a link to gleam in the description for those who don't win the giveaway

Just don't add some shady groups and links. At least that's what annoys me.

Every once in a while, gleam asks us to join groups like this one or this one. And most definitely NEVER add this one

The Original Curators/Traders/Giveaways groups, would be an example, given a rather long shady history which you can find all over the place here.

But anyway, if steam groups, they should be relevant to the game or developer, not like certain ones... This one for instance for Adorables, requires multiple joins to CSGO groups with nothing to do with the game, or otherwise pretty shady just going by their name.

You could have something like multiple page visits, and maybe join the developers' steam group. Something relevant to the game in question, but as many have stated, avoid instagram like the plague.

  • Visit Game Page on Steam

  • Visit Greenlit Page for another game from the developer (if there is one)

  • Visit the Developer Facebook Page

  • Visit the Developer Twitter Page

  • Tweet about the Game

  • Visit Developers' steam group

  • Does the game feature its own website? Add in a page visit for that too.

  • As above, for the developers website. Or your own.

You seem to have several games on greenlight yourself. You could throw in 2~3 total links to visit similar genre games to the one being given away.
If you wanted to be pretty generous ;) You could also throw in a "Visit steamgifts.com" link.

Generally, maybe 80% of the time unless its a "common" requirement, people will join groups then leave 5 seconds later. For Twitter follows, chances are its a "fake" or otherwise "unused" account, or again, will be unfollowed moments afterwards. People don't like to be spammed, if they want to see something they'll sign up to it own their own accord. This is why I state "Visit" rather than "Join". Unless you want even "fake numbers" then forcing people to join something just doesn't work less they forget to cancel or don't care anyway.

That's already 8 different tasks, possibly more if including multiple greenlight. Could be one of your own, one from your partner, one from the developer if not yourself?

By the way, with your original topic posting, you've got some text hidden because of the tilda. ~.
A trick I use, is to italic or bold the tilda so it appears without trying to format the text.

Give some away here, give some away on gleam. Don't make people join more than one or two Steam groups. I hate Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Maybe 5 to 10 tasks at most.

Well , Thats a problem because I need to get the developer some tasks and as well to promote my social media and sites I working with them. I will try to find out an idea about what to do , I just want to hear people ideas so I will not get any shitstrom or hate or idk :)

any tasks is fine, who cares if its 20 or whatever, if you are so lazy that you cant even do something to get a free key then you dont deserve it
the main thing is twitch and instagram need not to be included, twitter/facebook is fine

I don't want it to be too much. I guess 10 - 12 is fine. then I will do some extra giveaways with 2 - 3 slots :)

They asked for a max number, so I gave them an idea of what I thought was ok. The recommendation has nothing to do with being lazy.

Nice, anyone who doesn't want to do 20 tasks on a gleam ga is lazy?
Yeah, right.
Using your logic, the fact you don't want to have to use twitch or instagram means you're lazy too and don't deserve a key either ...

11-13 still accept able, there more than 20 action out there. maybe if i have opinion like this :
1-10 awesome if 3 group (each need 1 fb, 1 twitter, 1 steam group)
10-20 acceptable if 3 group (each need 1 fb, 1 twitter, 1 steam group, 1 visit greenlight, 1 visit web or fb)
20-30 or more than 50 xD i dont know about this...

I don't mind gleam, but :

Having more than 2/3 group joins makes me feels like it is just to populate all the clones of the main group (I'm looking at you original-whatever-you-call-yourself-now-ducks). Having 1 or 2 groups feels like those are the groups you care about, more than that is just a dump, especially ultra specific groups (I don't CSGO, don't care about skins, do you really expect me to join and stay in 6 CSGO skins groups huh ?)

Instagram and twitch are the devil.

I don't mind following on twitter, make me tweet however and those tweets will be deleted right away.

Less than 12 tasks is fine.

At least you care enough to ask so that's a big plus in my book.

Just don't make people have to join shady groups or like on facebook or retweet.
Visiting a site is fine.
Having said that, you'll probably get thousands of bots aka script users.
12 should be the max. Any more and normal people will think "screw this" while script users don't give a damn.

Nothing that requires you to have a cell phone like instagram for example. I will never touch stuff like that, its also a very hated requirement.

Visiting sites is ok.

Don't require twitch or watching a video. Specially the video part, cause you know what happens, someone starts it up, mutes it and goes to the bathroom or goes and gets a drink or opens another browser and goes to other sites or something so you're pretty much not getting anyone to watch it anyway.

Don't hide tasks. Lots of times you'll see like 6 tasks, so you do them... and then 20 more unlock that you have to do. Just show us all the tasks at once.

Make it so that you don't have to do all the tasks If there are say 10 tasks, make it so that we only have to do 6 or 8.

If its a key for a random game, tell us what those games are. There are people who will not enter if its only games they don't want or already have.

And thank you for asking us. :)

On youtube videos I just forward them to a couple of seconds before they end and then let them play those last few seconds to trigger the button. It's worked every time.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Good to know, I'll give that a try next time. I've done it in the past but it didn't seem to activate the continue button which is why I just mute and let them play in the background as I do other stuff and check on them after. Maybe I just did it too close to the end or not close enough.

you can actually just drag it right to the end.

I've had mixed results dragging it all the way to the end but it's worked every time if I let it play the last few seconds.

i for one dont mind having to do 10 tasks for keys,as long as one of the tasks isnt referral i really hate when they force you into referrals.

like pfft i dont have friends.

besides number to task, be aware of listing down the name of the giveaway game (may include how many chance to get specific game if giveaway more than 2 games in the same time), instead of some mysterious "random keys" giveaway which contain some common trash games, where I dont want to receive the same keys again and again.
Thanks for giveaways :)

5 -max 8 is fine for me, 10+ is extreme and i will insta skip, esp if its full of retweet, subscribe, twitch, instagram. Iam ok with visit steps, if tons of Steam groups... join & leave, so only time waste for me (customers) and nothing for creator :D I can consider maybe smth like 12 steps if its good uniqie game (first time free), not any free game thats free every week 3 times.
For example idk why i need stay in groups about CS:GO... i dont care about things about CS, so why stay in? Creators are touchy then, but if we dont care about something... we just leave, no?

1-2 tasks is ideal but probably those people that take 10 keys think so too..
5 is still okay but it really depends on the game.. If I own it or don't want it, I'm just not participating (even if I can just leave the group / unfollow / delete the tweet and all that). At this point I feel like anyone got a throwaway twitter account anyways so don't expect to successfully advertise stuff in the feature through that channel is no one checking it :D

If the game is worth it I don't mind say 8 - 12 actions particularly if they are mostly visit web pages. But why make multiple group joins part of a gleam giveaway? You can add as many of those as you want. If I'm interested in the game I'll join, but then I'm probably leaving them immediately after getting my key.

Oh and I hate the gleam twitter app. There has to be a better way than that.

I don't mind joining steam groups or following twitch streamers for giveaways, but if a gleam giveaway requires twitter/facebook/tumblr/instagram I'm out because I don't use those sites.

Don't mind clicking links if they just want the click, but being honest I never accept any youtube sub, I immediately leave any Steam groups I'm required to join, unfollow any twitch streams... I leave twitter follows though, because things like this are the only reason I even have a twitter account and I pay zero attention to it otherwise.
