Recently reviews from Gamespot have been brought to my attention recently and It really confuses me. Like most people reviewing this game it got positive reviews which doesn't surprise me since its a genuinely good game. However here's where it gets odd, Gamespot gave the ps3 and 360 scores 9.0 but the Wii U version which is what the game was built for in the first place an 8.0? Now why is it a point lower i ask? From what i can gather it's all due to the fact that in the other versions you just press a button to interact with obstacles while in the wii u version the gamepad is used. I really don't see why this means it gets a lower score just due to that one thing. It seems like gamespot and IGN are a bit biased towards Wii U games. It's not like the other platforms don't have problems with this game, you need Xbox live gold to play online multiplayer and with the pc version even with steam it forces you to have Uplay( even though Rayman Origins didn't have any 3rd party DRM). My point is that if you bring up any kind of shortcoming in the Wii U version you can't ignore the shortcomings on the other gaming platforms otherwise you'll look like a hypocrite, end of story.

Except the controls are probably more infuriating on the Wii U version because of that bulky-ass controller.

I think it's a bit of the hating on Nintendo bandwagon, but Gamespot also has some credibility issues with their reviews. They're known to take large amounts of advertising money in exchange for favorable reviews. This all came to light after Ubisoft complained when Kane and Lynch got a bad review after they spent a buttload of money advertising in the days leading up to the review. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Gerstmann - This is the reviewer who got canned after the review, gives a bit of backstory) I'm not 100% sure saying that there's a link between the advertising revenue and the WiiU's scores, but I think it's well within the realm of possibility.

Yeah, but it's so hard to read. People should just be able to download all of the words into their head.

Looking at it. ( The reviews ) It seems the hate is aimed at the controller and something you have to do on specific levels while that was not done with the other versions.

"Legends on the Wii U slams on the breaks in certain levels by putting you in control of Murfy, a helpful fly, while the AI moves Rayman. Here, you must shift your focus to the GamePad as you spread guacamole and ready catapults in an attempt to guide your bipedal friend to safety. These levels are a noticeable misstep in a game bursting with great ideas. Rayman walks forward without any involvement from you for long stretches, and oftentimes waits stubbornly while you try to pull object in the exact place he desires. Vacillating between passive and fiddly is a poor way to inject diversity. Even when things run smoothly, controlling Murfy isn't engaging because progress requires neither puzzle solving nor dexterity on your part. There is some appeal in playing with a friend because anyone controlling Murfy can torment his or her friend. But, Legends stumbles in these stages, especially compared to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions in which you control Murfy with a button tap while running as Rayman. "

So, basically it got a lower score ( slightly lower ) due to this.

All reviews will be biased as they are a persons opinion. They may base their ratings in comparison to other games on the platform, possibly those on the platform with the same genre. Maybe the Wii U article was ghost written by an intern or something. I generally rely on IGN (even though I have heard about some of the controversy their reviews also draw) and Escapist for reviews. Besides many games that other reviewers have reviewed highly are not necessarily my favorite games. Demo's and trailers do help, but really I would just ask friends and people who have similar tastes if you are really on the fence. Reviews are mainly just to educate people before they make a purchase. Besides most of the funding and advertising that these websites receive is from video game companies, so it's a natural relationship.

Have you tried Rayman Legends on the Wii U? The GamePad is indeed a huge turn off. I didn't know where to look - it's just awkward. If I want touch controls, I'll play on Vita - at least it's just one screen to look at.
